  • Patent number: 6233980
Abstract: A liquified gas dry-cleaning machine having a cleaning vessel with a chamber for containing a wash bath and items to be cleaned, a removable door for sealing the cleaning chamber during a dry-cleaning operation, and a locking ring for retaining the door in closed position. A door opening and closing apparatus is provided which includes a pivot frame for moving the door in an arced path of movement into and out of closed position with the cleaning vessel. The door and locking ring have respective locking lugs with a specifically designed geometry for enabling arced movement of the door into and out of the closed position and for centering the door in aligned relation to the cleaning chamber as an incident to such movement. The locking lugs further have mating locking surfaces designed for point contact in a manner that minimizes stress concentrations at n the roots of the locking ring lugs.

  • Patent number: 6085935
Abstract: A pressure vessel which includes a door operating apparatus which enables a door to the pressure vessel to be moved between open and closed positions quickly and easily is provided. The door operating apparatus includes a translation rod supported on the pressure vessel for sliding movement relative to the housing of the pressure vessel such that the sliding movement of the translation rod guides the door in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the door opening in the housing between the open and closed positions. The translation rod further being supported on the pressure vessel for pivotal movement with respect to the pressure vessel housing so as to enable the door to pivot about an axis defined by the translation rod into a fully open position.

  • Patent number: 6070440
Abstract: An apparatus for opening and closing a door of a pressure cleaning vessel for a dry cleaning system which requires minimal clearance to operate is provided. The apparatus includes a frame slidably attached to the cleaning vessel and having a base member with a pair of attached upstanding side arms which carry the door of the cleaning vessel. The apparatus further includes a first horizontal actuator carried by the cleaning vessel and operatively connected to the frame for moving the frame in a substantially horizontal direction relative to the cleaning vessel such that the door of the cleaning vessel moves between a closed position and an intermediate position wherein the door is substantially in front of the cleaning vessel. A second vertical actuator carried by at least one of the side arms and operatively connected to the door moves the door in a substantially vertical direction relative to the cleaning vessel and the frame between the intermediate position and an open position.

  • Patent number: 6053541
Abstract: A safety lock-out apparatus for an access door of a pressure vessel which operates automatically without relying on external power sources is provided. The lock-out apparatus includes a locking assembly having a lock member which is supported in a hollow lock chamber for movement between a retracted position and an extended position. The lock member and a complementary recess being arranged such that when the lock member is in the extended position it engages the complementary recess so as to prevent the access door from being opened. The lock housing chamber is in fluid communication with the interior of the pressure vessel such that when the interior of the pressure vessel is pressurized, the increased pressure bears on the lock member and moves it counter to the bias of a spring into the engaged position thereby locking the door. When the increased pressure is removed from the pressure vessel, the spring moves the lock member into the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 5946945
Abstract: A pressure vessel for receiving and storing pressurized fluid in a pressurized dense phase liquid dry cleaning apparatus is provided. The dry cleaning apparatus generally includes a cleaning vessel within which garments or the like are cleaned and a solvent recovery device which takes the contaminated cleaning fluid from the cleaning vessel and separates out the contaminants. The pressure vessel comprises a plurality of interconnected hollow structures and as such is substantially self-supporting and occupies less space within dry cleaning apparatus. The pressure vessel can also serve as the support structure for the other components of the dry cleaning system to provide a further cost and space savings.

  • Patent number: 5437230
Abstract: An unpowered air vehicle, i.e. a glider, which is air-launched from appreciable range, is densely packed with a large area, explosive net. At a pre-determined location, the net is extracted from the glider by a parachute and expanded completely before landing on the surface of the water or land that contains a large field of mines. The explosive material in the net is then detonated, destroying the mines covered by the net. The longitudinal ends of the net are attached to a folding, multi-arm framework designed to expand and thereby spread the net after separation from the glider. The spreading action is initiated by an extraction parachute which pulls the first frame from the air vehicle. The spreading action is completed by the second frame which is coupled to a brake mechanism in the glider that maintains tension throughout the net to complete the spreading of the net.

  • Patent number: 5213594
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for capturing solvent vapors from around the access opening of dry cleaning apparatus. The method and apparatus include the use of one or more collars positioned adjacent to the access opening. Vapors from the access opening are drawn through apertures in the collar(s) by suction. Condensed water is received in a reservoir and then atomized.

  • Patent number: 5194185
Abstract: Apparatus and method are described for atomizing water containing an amount of solvent so that the solvent may be safely dispersed into the atmosphere. The apparatus and method are particularly useful for atomizing condensate water resulting from processes such as dry cleaning operations where relatively small amounts of solvent are present in the water.

  • Patent number: 5150331
Abstract: A method for enhancing seismic data is described for attenuating undesired coherent noise in both stacked seismic signals as well as in unstacked ordered gathers of seismic signals. In particular, coherent noise, as represented by reflection events, is identified to be attenuated, and a datum line is constructed in the seismic data. Each seismic signal can then be nonhyperbolically time-shifted so as to align the identified reflection event with the datum line. The seismic data can then be filtered with a dip filter having a dip angle corresponding to that of the datum line to attenuate the aligned reflection event.
