  • Publication number: 20020138690
Abstract: A system and method for performing a partial refresh of memory cells within a memory drive. The selection of rows to be refreshed is based on an algorithm. Each selected row of memory cells is compared to an indicator chosen by a manufacturer, user, or software internal to an electrical device. Depending on this comparison, the next row to be refreshed may be, but is not limited to, a row based on the algorithm or a first row in the DRAM array.

  • Patent number: 5251167
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adding signed partial products without generating sign extension subfields is disclosed. The method and apparatus are particularly useful when employed in conjunction with multiplication algorithms such as the 3-bit modified Booth algorithm and the like. Rather than adding a sign extension subfield to extend the left side of each partial product row into alignment with the leftmost bit position of the sum field (e.g., the full product field), a special sign-extension "correction" factor is added to the nonextended partial products. The correction factor mimics the effect of summing the sign-extension bits which would conventionally have been added to the partial product rows. The special correction factor contains fewer bits than the total number of bits contained in all the eliminated sign extension portions, and accordingly, less computer circuitry and/or computer time is required for performing the partial product summation operation.

  • Patent number: 4802088
Abstract: A microword controlled computer system with an apparatus for performing a pseudo branch. The pseudo branch involves the re-execution of a selected microword in a microword register. The computer system comprises a microword register, N control stores, an apparatus for selectively transferring a microword from one of the N control stores to the microword register, an apparatus coupled to said microword register for executing each microword in said microword register and an apparatus for branching to N+1 targets wherein each one of N of said N+1 targets comprises a microword from one of said N control stores and one of said N+1 targets is a current microword in said microword register.
