  • Patent number: 6524361
Abstract: A micro porous gas breather/filter assembly can be coupled to a housing of an electrical enclosure. The filter assembly has a two portion housing with the filter disposed between them. An adhesive on the filter attaches the filter to one or both portions of the housing. The filter allows gas to pass from the enclosure through the filter and to the atmosphere, but prohibits liquid from passing into the enclosure device. By filtering gases and liquids in this manner, the filter vents explosive and/or flammable gases from an electrical enclosure, while preventing liquid and other contaminants from entering the enclosure and damaging the electrical device or its wiring.

  • Patent number: 6461016
Abstract: A recessed downlight for installation between joists located in a ceiling, comprising a socket box assembly and a hanger bar assembly that both adjust to the size of the space between the joists and various obstacles therein. The socket box assembly includes a housing having a socket enclosed therein providing an electrical connection for a lamp. The socket box housing is slidably coupled to the hanger bar assembly, thereby allowing the housing to be moved to a desired location along the length of the hanger bar assembly. Hanger bar assembly includes telescoping hanger bars and adjustable vertical legs. In addition, the vertical legs rotate with respect to the hanger bars, thereby allowing the installer to mount the downlight diagonally between joists. A trim and a can for the downlight are releasably attached to the socket box assembly without the use of tools, thereby allowing the installer to easily remove and/or replace the trim or can.

  • Patent number: 6135613
Abstract: A lighting fixture assembly includes a lighting fixture having a mounting member, a pair of end plates, an elongated lamp and an elongated lens, and a pair of dust covers fittable over opposite ends of the lighting fixture. Each end plate is mounted to one of the opposite end of the mounting member and is substantially comprised of a first material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The lamp is mounted adjacent to the mounting member and extends between the end plates and has opposite ends disposed adjacent to the end plates. The lens is mounted adjacent to the mounting member and extends between the end plates and has opposite ends disposed adjacent to the end plates. The lens together with the mounting member and end plates substantially encloses the lamp.

  • Patent number: 6095662
Abstract: A lighting fixture with emergency illuminating device having a housing, first and second electrical sockets, first and second lamps, and a first translucent cover. The housing having electrical wiring for connection to a power source. The first electrical socket coupled to the housing and electrically coupled to the wiring, and having a first central axis and a first width transverse to the first central axis. The second electrical socket coupled to the housing and electrically coupled to the wiring, and having a second central axis and a second width transverse to the second central axis that is greater than the first width of the first electrical socket. The first lamp having a connecting end removably coupled within the first electrical socket and a translucent bulb portion extending from the connecting end. The second lamp having a connecting end removably coupled within the second electrical socket and a translucent bulb portion extending from the connecting end of the second lamp.

  • Patent number: 5911499
Abstract: An emergency lighting fixture with backup battery power for illuminating aimable lamps or a plurality of lamps mounted in a single housing in response to loss of power. In the preferred embodiment, the lighting fixture has three independently adjustable lamps mounted within a single housing. The lamps are adjustable about vertical and horizontal axes for maximum aiming capabilities. The housing is preferably an explosion proof housing with a glass globe for mounting in hazardous locations or areas. The glass globe allows the lamps to be aimed through 360.degree. so that light transmitted by the lamps can be aimed to a specific area adjacent the lighting fixture. The lighting fixture also preferably has its backup batteries mounted within the housing along with a charger for maintaining the batteries at full charge.
