  • Publication number: 20240118377
Abstract: According to one configuration, an example communication system includes multiple communication devices such as a primary wireless access point and a secondary wireless access point (such as a so-called wireless network extender). The primary wireless access point can be configured to control operation of the secondary wireless access point. A communication management resource (such as location management function) associated with the communication system receives first location information indicating a location of the secondary wireless access point. The communication management resource determines a relative position of the primary wireless access point with respect to the secondary wireless access point. Based on the first location information and the determined relative position, the communication management resource produces (derives) second location information indicating a location of the primary wireless access point.

  • Patent number: 11783585
Abstract: A method of detecting frames in a video that demarcate a pre-determined type of video segment within the video is provided. The method includes identifying visually distinctive candidate marker frames within the video, grouping the candidate marker frames into a plurality of groups based on visual similarity, computing a collective score for each of the groups based on temporal proximity of each of the candidate marker frames within the group to related events occurring within the video, and selecting at least one of the groups based on the collective proximity scores as marker frames that demarcate the pre-determined type of video segment. A video processing electronic device and at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer program instructions stored thereon for performing the method are also provided.

  • Patent number: 11256923
Abstract: Particular embodiments extract features for frames from a video. Then, a sequence of frames is identified based on a pattern analysis of frames based on the features. This pattern may be used to select sentinel features from the sequence of frames. For example, a pattern may include a first sentinel sequence followed by a transitional frame and then a second sentinel sequence. The transitional frame may be a black frame that is used to identify back-to-back sentinel sequences. Then, a sentinel frame that demarks a transition from a first content type to a second content type is identified. For example, the frames on either side of the black frame may be very similar and be identified as sentinel frames that mark a transition from program content to advertisement content. The above process may allow automated detection of sentinel frames that can run without user supervision.

  • Patent number: 11093978
Abstract: A method for creating derivative advertisements is provided. The method includes identifying a visual element based on an analysis of a primary advertisement asset such that the visual element is representative of a branding message provided within the primary advertisement. The method also includes identifying a call-to-action (CTA) data element based on the analysis and creating a derivative advertisement asset having the visual element and CTA data element. A system and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium containing software for executing the method are also provided.

  • Patent number: 10547706
Abstract: A method and apparatus determine a multimedia representation for a multimedia asset. The method includes receiving a multimedia asset request for a multimedia asset at a multimedia representation broker. The multimedia asset request is received from a specific client device. The multimedia asset request includes client device information about the specific client device. The method determines, at the multimedia representation broker, a multimedia representation for user in providing the multimedia asset to the specific client device based on the client device information and based on media representations appropriate for a client device context of the specific client device. The method outputs multimedia representation information corresponding to the multimedia asset for the specific client device based on the determined multimedia representation.

  • Patent number: 10148928
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating alerts and enhanced viewing experience features using on-screen data are disclosed. Textual data corresponding to on-screen text is determined from the visual content of video data. The textual data is associated with corresponding regions and frames of the video data in which the corresponding on-screen text was detected. Users can select regions in the frames of the visual content to monitor for a particular triggering item (e.g., a triggering word, name, or phrase). During play back of the video data, the textual data associated with the selected regions in the frames can be monitored for the triggering item. When the triggering item is detected in the textual data, an alert can be generated. Alternatively, the textual data for the selected region can be extracted to compile supplemental information that can be rendered over the playback of the video data or over other video data.

  • Patent number: 10097865
Abstract: Particular embodiments can refine a seed sentinel frame signature for a seed sentinel frame. The seed sentinel frame may be predictable or partially predictable content that demarks a beginning and/or end of certain content in a video program. The seed sentinel frame may be first used to detect other sentinel frames in the video program. However, other sentinel frames throughout the video program, or in other video programs, may be slightly different from the given sentinel frame due to different reasons. The seed sentinel frame signature may not detect the sentinel frames of a video program with a desired accuracy. Accordingly, particular embodiments may refine the sentinel frame signature to a synthetic sentinel frame signature. The synthetic sentinel frame signature may then be used to analyze the current video program or other video programs. The synthetic sentinel frame signature may more accurately detect the sentinel frames within the video program.

  • Patent number: 10028255
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for delivering data (212) to a wireless station (102). An access point (104), or any other suitable device or system, receives a plurality of association requests (204) from a plurality of wireless stations (102) and transmits a different association identifier (208) to each of the plurality of wireless stations (102). The access point (104) buffers data (212) for a subset of the wireless stations (102). If the number of wireless stations (102) with buffered data (212) at the access point (104) is less than a threshold, then the access point (104) transmits a list of association identifiers indicating that buffered data (212) are held for each wireless station (102) identified by the list.

  • Patent number: 9888279
Abstract: A method receives video content and metadata associated with video content. The method then extracts features of the video content based on the metadata. Portions of the visual, audio, and textual features are fused into composite features that include multiple features from the visual, audio, and textual features. A set of video segments of the video content is identified based on the composite features of the video content. Also, the segments may be identified based on a user query.

  • Patent number: 9769281
Abstract: A method (1000) and apparatus (110) determine a multimedia representation for a multimedia asset. The method includes receiving (1020) a multimedia asset request for a multimedia asset at a multimedia representation broker (110).
