  • Patent number: 5633645
Abstract: A laminar patch antenna comprises a ground plane element with a cross shaped aperture sandwiched between two dielectric layers with a patch radiator on one dielectric layer and a transmission line circuit on the other dielectric layer. The transmission line circuit has linear conductors overlying respective sectors between slots of the aperture, the conductors providing a feedline and stub projection with lines of similar type overlying opposite sectors of the cross and conductors of different type overlying adjacent sectors of the cross.

  • Patent number: 5448250
Abstract: A laminar microstrip patch antenna includes a ground plane dement having opposing first and second faces, a first dielectric planar member adjacent a first face of the ground plane element, a patch radiator on a face of the first dielectric member remote from said ground element, a second dielectric planar member adjacent a second face of the ground plane element, and a transmission line circuit for feeding the antenna. The transmission line circuit is located on a face of the second dielectric member remote from said ground plane element, and the ground plane has an aperture to couple the transmission line circuit to the patch radiator. The aperture is formed as a cross made up of two intersecting linear slots. The transmission line circuit is formed by two linear conductors intersecting each other at a single electrically insulated point, the intersection point being aligned with a center of the intersection of the aperture cross with the linear conductors lying between the slots of the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5255002
Abstract: This invention concerns an antenna system for the transmission and reception of radio waves for, typically, cellular radio communication. The antenna is, ideally, formed on a vehicle window and is so designed to enable minimum obstruction to viewing through the window and to provide excellent electrical impedance matching between the antenna and connecting coaxial cable. Several embodiments are disclosed, however, the essential design comprises two closely located conducting members to which electrical connection is made, located on the window. The first conducting member is "V"-shaped with each leg of the "V" being equivalent in length to .lambda./4. The angle between the two arms of the "V" are carefully selected as is the angle between the arms and the edge of the window. The apex of the "V" points towards the edge of the window and an intervening second electrical conductor which is parallel to the edte of the window.
