  • Patent number: 9712934
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for testing an individual's hearing and correcting audio signals to compensate for the significant variance in each listener's sensitivity to various frequencies of the audible spectrum. An auditory calibration procedure includes identifying a first volume level as a minimum volume level at which nominal frequency tones are audible, a minimum frequency at which said first volume level is audible, a maximum frequency at which said first volume level is audible, and a minimum volume level at which a number of intervening sample frequencies are audible. A substantially parabolic correction curve is generated based on the minimum volume levels at the various sample frequencies. The correction curve is applied to modify real time audio signals generated upon execution of an audio file functionally linked to the processor, wherein the modified real time audio signals are provided to an audio output device.

  • Publication number: 20150277703
Abstract: An apparatus for displaying icons and warnings about healthcare conditions for a patient through a display screen. The screen may be a touchscreen to facilitate authorized healthcare user interaction. The display screen is located in proximity to a patient or the patient's room. The display screen provides a public display mode displaying icons and warnings symbol related to one or more conditions for the patient, but without displaying information that may violate the patient's privacy. The display screen further provides an authorized display mode accessible only by authorized users, such as healthcare workers. Authorized users may thereby gain access to more specific information identifying the one or more conditions, and complete a checklist of healthcare procedures and protocols related to said conditions. Information about authorized user access and checklist completion may be stored to document compliance.

  • Patent number: 8549402
Abstract: A stand-alone desktop application (i.e., client) that resides on an end user's local computer and receives customized music playlists and content via the Internet from a network of distributed servers. The end user may install the application in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, downloading it from the Internet or installing it from a CD that has been pre-loaded with the client. Songs downloaded through the application may be cached locally. The application forms a playlist based on user-entered preferences, an analysis of music already existing on the computer, and previous user interactions with the application. Similar or related songs, albums, bands, or artists can be displayed graphically in a “song cloud” around a graphical representation of the song being played.
