  • Patent number: 7808978
Abstract: A method of establishing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications is provided. The method includes establishing a virtual circuit to carry VoIP traffic via a first Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) session and to carry other data traffic via a second PPPoE session. The first PPPoE session and the second PPPoE session are supported by a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM).

Date of Patent: October 5, 2010
    Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.
Inventors: Goangshiuan Shawn Ying, Eugene Edmon, Steve M. Aspell
  • Patent number: 7743411
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for extending communications over the Internet by associating a telephone number with, for example a remote virtual private network (VPN) client IP address. A call can be received to the telephone number and an invite signal is provided to the remote VPN client utilizing the IP address. When the VPN client is able, a VPN can be established and the call can be routed to a phone associated with the remote VPN client IP address.

  • Publication number: 20080007621
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a system and method of controlling access to an entrance. In a particular embodiment, the method includes receiving a first signal, first data, or any combination thereof, at an audio video transport system indicating that a request to access an entrance has been received via a security system. The method also includes determining a set-top box device associated with the request. Further, the method includes sending a second signal, second data, or any combination thereof, to a network terminal indicating that the request has been received, wherein the network terminal communicates video content of an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) system to the set-top box device. The network terminal communicates an alert to the set-top box device indicating that the request has been received, the alert overlaying the video content at a display device coupled to the set-top box device.
