  • Patent number: 10747896
Abstract: An item is shared based on an information boundary and access control settings. An application such as a document management application detects a selection of an information boundary to manage a sharing action associated with the item. The information boundary includes rules to define how the item is shared. A selection of an access control list is also detected to manage recipients who have an access to the item. The access control list allows a recipient in the list an ability to search and discover the item. In response to a detection of the sharing action to share the item, the information boundary and the access control list is applied to the item. The item is then shared based on the information boundary and the access control list through a link of the item transmitted to a recipient.

  • Patent number: 10740298
Abstract: Techniques for limiting synchronization conflicts during file synchronization in a computing system are described herein. In one embodiment, a method includes detecting a change to a local copy a computer file on a client device. The local copy is associated with a local token. The method also includes obtaining a server token associated with a server copy of the same computer file on a file server and determining whether the local token matches the server token. If the local and server tokens match each other, the method includes uploading the local copy to the file server to overwrite the server copy even though the server copy contains a change to the computer file that is different than a change to the local copy of the same computer file.

  • Patent number: 6405225
Abstract: An Envelope provides the integration of the functionality of an electronic mail (email) application program and the functionality of a document editor. Users can more easily generate and edit sophisticated documents for email transmission by invoking an Envelope that provides the user with the functions of an email client. A user that is editing a document in a document editor, such as a word processor or spreadsheet application can invoke the Envelope within the user interface of the document editor. The Envelope has its own user interface that is fully functional within the confines of the document editor's user interface to provide the user with the functionality of the email client application program. With the Envelope invoked, the user is enabled to execute many of the email client's functions while still editing the document within the document editor's user interface.
