Abstract: A vehicle on-board unit basically comprises a short range wireless communication section, a voice message download section, a voice message storing section, a notification timing setting section and a notification section. The short range wireless communication section is configured to communicate with a roadside unit located within a prescribed communication region using a short range wireless communication with the roadside unit being linked to a voicemail account of a user. The voice message download section is configured to download voice messages stored in the voicemail account through the short range wireless communication section. The notification timing setting section is configured to set a notification timing for notifying the user that the voice messages were downloaded according to operational conditions of a host vehicle. The notification section is configured to notify the user that the voice messages were downloaded at the notification timing set in the notification timing setting section.

Abstract: A system and method for determining a traffic condition of a vehicle includes receiving status information of a plurality of vehicles, the status information including at least a speed of the respective vehicle. An average speed is determined according to the speed included in the status information of a first group of vehicles among the plurality of vehicles satisfying a first condition. An indication of the determined average speed is provided to a driver of a first vehicle.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling a speed of a vehicle includes detecting whether a cruise control setting of a first vehicle is active and receiving, at the first vehicle, position information of a second vehicle, the position information of the second vehicle including an elevation of the second vehicle. A value is determined that is representative of a difference in elevation between the first vehicle and the second vehicle based on the received position information of the second vehicle and an elevation of the first vehicle. A speed setting of the first vehicle is adjusted based on the determined value if the detected cruise control setting of the first vehicle is active.

Abstract: A vehicle and a method for controlling headlight status in a first vehicle includes receiving status information from at least one vehicle other than the first vehicle located in a communication area surrounding the first vehicle, the status information including a headlight status of the at least one other vehicle. A headlight status of the first vehicle is determined, and an action is initiated in the first vehicle based on the determined headlight status of the first vehicle and the received vehicle status of the at least one vehicle.

Abstract: A method and system of communicating with other vehicles includes determining, by a first vehicle, whether other vehicles are within short range communication range of the first vehicle. A first vehicle, filters the other vehicles within short range communication range based on whether the other vehicles are traveling along a same or similar path, and establishes communication with one or more of the other vehicles based on the filtering.

Abstract: A method, system, and software for automatically providing traffic information to a user, includes tracking and storing travel pattern data of the user, the travel pattern data including a time at which a travel occurs. The travel pattern data is analyzed to predict a particular travel path traveled by the user at a particular time when the travel occurs, and traffic information along the particular travel path is automatically determined at or before the particular time at which travel is predicted.
