Abstract: Aspects relate to automatically establishing neighbor relations for adjacent sectors based on one or more network events. The neighbor relations can be established between sectors that can be identified as inter-frequency neighbors or intra-frequency neighbors. In an aspect, the network events can be active call data events received from one or more mobile devices. The active call data events can be radio access bearer establishments and internal system releases. In another aspect, the network events can be idle call data events received from one or more mobile devices. If a first event ended on a first sector and a second event started on a second sector before expiration of an interval that started when the first event ended, the first sector and second sector can be defined as neighbors.

Abstract: Input/output operation of an electronic device is adapted for left-handed and/or right-handed scenarios. As described herein, sensors (e.g., capacitive, resistive, touch-sensitive, etc.) are applied to respective outer edges of a device to determine whether a device is in a user's left hand and/or right hand. Based on this determination, respective points along the sensors can be mapped to soft keys to automatically optimize input for left-handed and/or right-handed operation. As further described herein, points of contact with an input device such as a touch-screen can be corrected based on whether a user's left hand and/or right hand is holding an associated electronic device. For example, upon identifying contact between a touch-screen and a thumb of a hand being used to hold an associated device, the point of contact can be shifted to compensate for the angle of the thumb with respect to the touch-screen.

Abstract: A method of treating or preventing fungal infection, which includes identifying a plant or animal having a fungal infection and administering an effective amount of an anti-fungal composition to the plant or animal to reduce the fungal infection. In a preferred form of the present invention, the antifungal composition is compound 13 or 33 and is combined with an azole compound, such as fluconazole.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system and program for selecting a path comprising ports on primary and secondary clusters to use to transmit data at a primary volume to a secondary volume. A request is received to copy data from a primary storage location to a secondary storage location. A determination is made from a plurality of primary clusters of an owner primary cluster for the primary storage location, wherein the primary clusters are configured to access the primary storage location. A determination is made as to whether there is at least one port on the owner primary cluster providing an available path to the secondary storage location. One port on the owner primary cluster is selected to use to copy the data to the secondary storage location in response to determining that there is at least one port on the owner primary cluster available to transmit to the secondary storage location.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system and program for considering remote end point performance to select a remote end point to use to transmit a task. A maximum outstanding tasks and a current outstanding tasks comprising a number of outstanding tasks transmitted over a network are provided. A task is received to transmit over the network. A determination is made as to whether the current outstanding tasks is less than the maximum outstanding tasks. The received task is transmitted over the network in response to determining that the current outstanding tasks is less than the maximum outstanding tasks.

Abstract: In order to provide enhanced database-derived information, such as enhanced directory assistance, a directory assistance operator receives a request from a telecommunications system user for listing information of a business that provides a desired product or service. A merchant database, containing business listings, as well as detailed data regarding products and services sold by at least some businesses, is searched in accordance with rules that consider travel time to the merchants and other known characteristics relating to the desired product or service. The search results are then presented to the user through spoken and/or visual means.

Abstract: An improved client network address translation (“NAT”) system is provided. Methods are provided for initializing connection control blocks with the client NAT addresses when a storage pool of connection control blocks are allocated. This avoids the costly overhead as connections are created and destroyed. Unlike the prior art solutions, once the connection control blocks of the present invention are allocated, they remain in effect until the storage subpool is deleted. Secondly, in order to provide as large a pool of client NAT addresses as possible, methods are provided for using intervals to allocate and reclaim client NAT addresses as subpools are allocated and freed.

Abstract: A log-in resource release system includes a set of lists for managing log-in requests to a processing cluster input/output port from host server input/output ports. Host servers that have been granted memory structures within a memory storage device (“configured hosts”) are granted priority access to a storage processing device's input/output port (“cluster port”). If the cluster port has exhausted its log-in resources, log-on requests from non-configured hosts will be not be accepted. New log-in requests from configured hosts will cause a host connected at a link or transport layer but not an upper layer to be logged off. If no hosts are connected only at the link or transport layer, a non-configured host connected at an upper layer will be logged off. If only configured hosts are connected and only at the upper layer, the log-on request by the configured host will be denied.

The tool is designed so as to allow for cordless operation, and the sizing, shape and composition of the heater and the motion sensing, temperature sensing and timing circuitry that are incorporated into the device maximize the amount of heat output to thereby minimize the energy required for powering the tool.

Abstract: Shoulder dystocia occurs most frequently during the birth of large infants, where the shoulders remain impacted, and lateral traction on the fetal neck with evulsion of the brachial plexus may cause brachial plexus injury. The idea is to prevent excessive lateral bending of the infant's head, its ensuing stress, and damage to the brachial nerve bundle. This invention consists of a special head brace, which limits the lateral movement of the baby's head with respect to the clavicle, and can be quickly mounted when required by the specific medical situation. Its design in two sections provides a snug fit, regardless of the infant's head size, and permits its installation in the little time available to complete the birth process.

Abstract: The invention consists of a bent flat member, which, properly inserted in the vagina, may be used to help a patient affected with rectocele (hernia) eliminate fecal matter, which otherwise may remain in the pocket formed by the hernia, and cause medical problems. The instrument is washable and may be indefinitely re-used by the patient.

Abstract: A computerized USB security system has at least one remote computerized server having one or more Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, with at least one USB security device coupled to the at least one remote computer via the one or more USB ports. A host computer has a driver communicatively coupling the host computer to the remote computerized server, wherein the driver emulates the USB ports of the remote computerized server by emulating a corresponding local USB port for each of the USB ports of the remote computerized server. The host computer is operable to exchange data with the remote computerized system driver to emulate one or more of the remote computerized system's USB ports as USB ports local to the host computer such that the at least one security device coupled to the at least one remote computer appears to software executing on the host computer to be local to the host computer.

Abstract: A remote computerized server has one or more Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, and a host computer has a driver communicatively coupling the host computer to the remote computerized server. The host computer driver emulates the USB ports of the remote computerized server by emulating a corresponding local USB port for each of the USB ports of the remote computerized server, and exchanges data with the remote computerized system driver to emulate one or more of the remote computerized system's USB ports as USB ports local to the host computer.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system and article of manufacture for bidirectional data transfer. In certain embodiments a link layer login is sent from a first port to a second port. Subsequently, an application layer login is sent from the first port to the second port to establish a first data path, wherein the first data path is from the first port to the second port. Subsequently, another application layer login is sent from the second port to the first port to establish a second data path, wherein the second data path is from the second port to the first port. In certain other embodiments, a first data path is established from a first port to a second port. A determination is made at the first port, whether the second port has a second data path established from the second port to the first port. An application layer logout is sent from the first port to the second port, in response to determining that the second port has the second data path established from the second port to the first port.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture, wherein in certain embodiments a first device determines a possibility of an invalidation of a second device, wherein the first device is coupled to the second device via a fabric. A query is sent from the first device to validate the second device, in response to determining the possibility of the invalidation of the second device. A determination is made, at the first device, whether to continue I/O operations from the first device to the second device based on receiving a response to the query within a time period.

Abstract: A method for controlling a four-wheel steering system of a vehicle includes recognizing a driver-selectable mode, receiving a signal preferably indicative of a front wheel steering-angle, and determining a rear-to-front steering-angle ratio in correspondence with the recognized mode and the received signal; and optionally includes receiving a signal indicative of vehicle speed, recognizing a current system state, determining a desired steering-angle, generating a command based on the desired and received steering-angles and the recognized system state, and diagnosing conditions in accordance with the received signals in order to enter a output disable mode.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving power consumption characteristics of a system having an active mode and a low power mode. A signal source, such as a system clock, switches when the system is in active mode and does not switch when the system is in low power mode. An activity monitor is coupled to the signal source to detect if the signal source is switching. Based on the detection, the activity monitor drives switching control logic. The switching control logic disconnects nonessential auxiliary circuits from the power supply in response to a detection of a non-switching condition. When switching resumes, the switching control logic is driven by the activity monitor to restore power to the auxiliary circuit fast enough that power up does not delay system operation.
