Abstract: The disclosure relates to the use of neurokinin-1 (NK-1) antagonists in treating pruritus in a subject, wherein i) the duration of the pruritus is about one year or longer, ii) the subject is about 40 years of age or older: iii) the subject has no inflammatory skin disease; and/or iv) the pruritus is idiopathic.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to the use of neurokinin-1 (NK-1) antagonists, such as serlopitant, in treating acute or chronic pruritus associated with a variety of medical conditions, including dermatitis/eczema, psoriasis, prurigo, urticaria, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, epidermolysis bullosa, bums and hepato-biliary diseases, or/and treating the medical conditions themselves. One or more additional antipruritic or therapeutic agents can optionally be used in combination with an NK-1 antagonist to treat acute or chronic pruritus associated with a medical condition or/and the medical condition itself.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to the use of neurokinin-1 (NK-1) antagonists, such as serlopitant, MK-0303 or MK-8478, in alleviating or suppressing cough (including acute, subacute and chronic cough) and urge to cough. The cough can have an unknown cause (idiopathic cough) or can be associated with any type of medical condition, such as a respiratory disorder. The NK-1 antagonist can be delivered by oral inhalation for more rapid peripheral and central antitussive action. Another antitussive agent in addition to the NK-1 antagonist can optionally be administered for the treatment of the cough or urge to cough, or the cough-associated medical condition.

Abstract: Method for assessing and preferably ameliorating the symptoms of a medical condition, optionally lymphedema, comprising obtaining a preferably both electrically powered and portable treatment apparatus capable of contacting, via a treatment head, a target area on the skin of a patient and introducing low-pressure suction thereto, wherein the apparatus, preferably the treatment head thereof, contains at least one sensor element to measure at least one physiological characteristic regarding the tissue underlying the target area of the patient, preferably indicative of fluid content thereof, and applying the treatment apparatus to the patient to measure said at least one physiological characteristic. A treatment apparatus for executing the method is presented.

Abstract: A method for enhancing postoperative healing using a low pressure suction apparatus comprising obtaining a preferably both electrically powered and portable treatment apparatus capable of contacting, via a treatment head, a target area of a patient and introducing low-pressure suction, i.e. negative pressure flow, thereto, configuring the treatment apparatus so as to introduce predefined, advantageously, pulsating pressure variation to a suction opening arranged at the treatment head, and applying the suction opening of the treatment head on the target area before the surgery, i.e. during the preoperative period, and optionally after the surgery, while the treatment apparatus is on and providing the suction effect corresponding to the configuration.

Abstract: An arrangement in connection with a low pressure suction apparatus for mobilizing skin tissue comprises a low pressure chamber, a suction equipment, comprising for example a pump or a fan, for producing low pressure in the low pressure chamber, and a suction head in connection with the suction apparatus, the suction head comprising a suction cup, one end of which is arranged to be in functional connection with the low pressure chamber and the other is arranged to be pressed against skin tissue, said other end of the suction cup forming a suction opening having a suction opening surface, and the direction parallel to the surface normal of the suction opening surface forming an angle deviating from zero degrees relative to the direction parallel to the surface normal of said one end of the suction cup.
