  • Patent number: 4609172
Abstract: A retainer includes a wedge-shaped element received in a recess of a shelf bracket. At the proximal end of the shelf bracket the recess includes an edge extending at an angle to a slotted wall standard and the wedge forces the L-shaped legs of the brackets against the inner surface of the wall standard to secure mounting. The slotted wall standard may be an exposed wall standard or a hidden wall standard. A hang rod may be mounted at the distal end of the bracket with the same bracket and recess structure in which case the wedge forces the hang rod against an edge of the recess opposite the angled edge.

  • Patent number: 4535525
Abstract: An adapter for enabling a vertical slotted standard in the form of a steel bar to be mounted to a pair of back-to-back assembled sheet metal channel-shaped studs in a wall, the adapter being disposed within the wall and hidden from the exterior of the wall. The exterior covering of the wall comprises aligned adjacent wallboard members whose vertical adjacent edges engage against a pair of forwardly extending entrance flanges for receiving therein the shelf-supporting hooked end brackets which enter and engage within the slots of the standard. The wallboard members are secured to the studs with the same fasteners that connect a pair of wallboard-receiving wings of the adapter to the studs. The invention is concerned with means for anchoring the standard within the adapter and a method of effecting such anchoring during the assembly of the adapter.

  • Patent number: 4534529
Abstract: A support bracket is mounted to a vertical wall structure which includes an inner surface and a plurality of spaced slots through the use of a bracket retainer. The bracket has a pair of L-shaped projections extending from its proximal end for hooking through respective slots. Each of the projections includes an edge facing the distal end of the bracket. A recess is provided in the bracket and has a locking edge extending at a downwardly convergent angle with respect to the proximal end of the bracket. The bracket retainer has first and second spaced plates interconnected by a wedge-shaped structure which has a locking surface complemental to the locking edge. The bracket is received between the plates and the locking surface engages the locking edge to force the edges of the L-shaped projections against the inner surface of the wall structure in response to a tap on one end of the retainer.

  • Patent number: 4455007
Abstract: A hang rail support and bracket is provided to support a hang rail of rectangular cross section which is adapted to be supported in such a manner that other brackets may be secured along the length of the rail and have merchandise hung therefrom in cantilever fashion. The bracket is adapted to be secured to a vertical standard such as the conventional slotted ones and has a vertically extending notch disposed in a laterally offset distal end section fitting the hang rail, and the lateral section is parallel to a lateral side of the hang rail or bar and has a bumper member of yieldable material that presses against a side of the rail to hold the rail firmly in the notch. The distal end section is parallel to and laterally offset from the proximal end section by the length of the lateral section and provides a shape of the bracket that acts to rigidify the structure of the bracket and to stengthen the bracket.
