  • Patent number: 10194902
Abstract: A suturing device for suturing a portion of biological tissue includes a needle attached to a suture, a needle holder that releasably holds the needle, and a needle driver adapted to be advanced and retracted substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the suturing device. A distal needle holder adapted to releasably hold the needle is positioned in a distal position relative to the portion of biological tissue and a distal end of the needle driver is positioned in a proximal position relative to the portion of biological tissue. The needle is positioned in either the proximal position or the distal position. The needle driver is moved longitudinally in a first direction along a path substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis such that the needle and suture pass through the portion of biological tissue, thereby forming a suture incision through which the suture passes. By repeating the above-described processes, a series of stitches is thereby formed.

  • Patent number: 8749656
Abstract: Previously available analog domain decimation techniques are limited to simple equally-weighted averaging of photosite outputs. Decimation of a Bayer pattern image by an even-factor, such as by two or six, using simple equally-weighted averaging of photosite outputs in the analog domain results in effective sampling locations that are unevenly spaced apart. Standard interpolation of the unevenly spaced effective sampling locations generates image artifacts that reduce the quality of the reconstructed image in the smaller format because standard interpolation methods assume that the effective sampling locations are evenly spaced. Implementations of systems, methods and apparatus disclosed herein aim to produce substantially evenly spaced effective sampling locations in the analog domain.

  • Patent number: 8654226
Abstract: A gated-clock shift register including a series of clocked flip-flops with preceding outputs connected to subsequent inputs as a horizontal digital shift register. Each flip-flop (or other state holding device) includes a clock buffer between the respective flip-flop's clock, and the global clock. Each clock buffer propagates the clock signal when it determines the associated flip-flop will have a state change during that clock cycle (e.g., via an XOR of the flip-flops input and output signals). In the absence of a state change, that buffer does not propagate the clock signal, essentially only clocking the relevant flip-flops. Further, the clock buffer may be implemented with only NMOS devices (or alternatively, only PMOS devices), which offers power savings over an otherwise required CMOS implementation.

  • Publication number: 20130025196
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate generally to a system for displaying plants. The system includes a tray and at least one grow pot with a protruding wick. Grow pots are easily and securely placed at an angle in the tray for display of foliage. The grow pots are easily rearranged and replaced without plant removal from the grow pot. Trays may be stacked together to provide a foliage area. Plants are easily watered by filling a tray to create a reservoir that conserves water. Individual grow pots need not be watered since the wicks take in water to the plant. Messy drainage of plants is avoided by the tray's ability to self-contain the water. Trays may be filled manually or with an automatic watering system. Slots or holes in the tray prevent over watering. Trays may be wall mounted or stacked in carriers. Carriers may have wheels for mobility, and a wheel cover for added appearance.

  • Patent number: 7437590
Abstract: A state machine circuit may be used to control a multiplexing circuit that selects and provides respective ones of multiple input clock signals to a clock-synthesizing circuit that generates a synthesized clock signal in response to such input clock signals. The state machine circuit may, for example, be configured so that the synthesized clock signal is a spread-spectrum clock signal and/or a clock signal having a nominal frequency that is greater than a nominal frequency of each of the input clock signals.

  • Publication number: 20070043385
Abstract: A suturing device and method allows a physician to remotely suture biological tissue. The device includes an elongate body, first and second arms operably connected to the elongated body, whereby each arm mounts an end portion of a suture, and first and second needles, each needle having a distal end and being mounted such that the distal end of the needle is movable to engage respective end portions of said suture. The suturing apparatus further includes an actuator which drives the needles to engage the suture. The suturing apparatus further includes an occluding device operably connected to the elongate body such that the occluding device may be advanced from the distal end of the elongate body to temporarily occlude the incision to be sutured.

  • Publication number: 20070010829
Abstract: A knot placement device allows a physician to apply a knot for securing two or more suture ends extending from an incision in a vessel or organ of a patient relative to each other in order to seal an opening in the vessel or organ. The knot placement device has a handle and an elongate shaft and a push rod slidably inserted in said shaft. A knot is disposed in the distal end of the shaft. An actuator on the handle may be depressed to distally advance said push rod relative to said shaft and thereby distally advance said knot. The knot may include a knot body having an inner cavity and a plug sized to fit securely within the inner cavity. In use, the plug may be inserted into the inner cavity of the knot body to fixedly hold two or more suture ends between the knot body and the plug.

  • Publication number: 20060282102
Abstract: A knot-tying assist device allows a physician to remotely tie and cinch a knot in two ends of a suture extending from an incision in a vessel or organ of a patient in order to seal an opening in the vessel or organ. The knot-tying assist device includes a first receiving portion and a second receiving portion spaced apart along the device for receiving and holding the two ends of the suture. The receiving portions may hold the suture ends loosely, or alternatively may hold the suture ends under tension to facilitate tying the knot. The knot-tying device further includes an engagement portion to stabilize the knot-tying assist device relative to the treatment location. The engagement portion may assist in maintaining tension on the two suture ends so that the suture can hold the incision closed prior to the knot being tied and cinched.
