    Abstract: A digital data transmission interface and method are disclosed for providing a stream of digital data packets to a digital recording device. The interface receives a plurality of digital data packets, develops an encapsulated received data packet, which includes a received digital data packet together with a corresponding timestamp, and couples the encapsulated received data packet to a digital recording device. Generated data packets may also be encapsulated and coupled to the recording device together with the encapsulated received data packets.
