  • Patent number: 6964055
Abstract: A method is provided that includes: receiving, by a framework, a request communicated by a source, the request including an associated functionality. The method also includes integrating, by an abstraction layer, a java object into the request such that a generic term associated with the request is generated. The generic term is insulated from the functionality of the request. The generic term is processed within the framework and a response associated with the request is returned to the source.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 2001
Date of Patent: November 8, 2005
    Assignee: Electronic Data Systems Corporation
Inventors: Philip C. Hanses, Scott W. Woyak, Steven J. Lundberg, Andrew W. Mather, Jeffrey A. Van Eeuwen, Philip C. Jackson, Jr.
  • Publication number: 20040123268
Abstract: Program code is distributed to various servers in and beyond a network by the use of a configuration management program in combination with a build program. The build program automatically compiles the code, builds the code into suitable files, and converts the code to the proper protocol for transmission to the different servers in the network. Preferably, both programs and their interface are located on the same server so as to minimize errors. The invention greatly reduces the time and errors involved in distributing new applications, “bug fixes” and other program changes to the network.

  • Patent number: 6341282
Abstract: A system for retrieving and scoring of information from an information source includes a user interface operable to receive one or more search criterion and an importance rate assigned to each of the search criterion. A processor is coupled to the user interface and the information source and is operable to retrieve information from the information source. The system also includes a computer-readable storage medium coupled to the processor. A computer program encoded on the computer-readable storage medium and executable by the processor scores the retrieved information using the search criterion and the importance rates assigned to the search criterion.
