Publication number: 20200083601Abstract: A positive terminal of a battery may act as an antenna ground plane for communicating battery status information. The positive terminal of the battery may include a first electrically conductive external surface with a first surface area. The negative terminal of the battery may include a second electrically conductive external surface with a second surface area less than the first surface area. An antenna impedance matching circuit may be electrically connected between a communication circuit, an antenna, and the positive terminal of the battery. Thus the positive terminal of the battery may act as a ground plane for the antenna.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2019Publication date: March 12, 2020Inventors: Jordan Bourilkov, Joern Riemer, Robert Pavlinsky, Steven J. Patent number: 8933589Abstract: A system for wireless energy transfer includes a circuit for wireless transmission of energy, including a first, tunable resonator circuit including a transmitter coil and a variable capacitance device connected in shunt across the transmitter coil. Also disclosed is a circuit for wireless reception of energy including a tunable second resonator circuit including a receiver coil inductively coupled to the transmitter coil and a variable capacitance device connected in shunt across the receiver coil. Also disclosed is an arrangement for wireless energy transmission and reception that foregoes the necessity for separate circuits for DC rectification at the reception end of the arrangement. Also disclosed a system for wireless energy transfer where the system includes a tunable resonator circuit embedded in a surface such as piece of furniture, counter, etc., e.g., a table.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2012Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventors: Jordan T. Patent number: 8859145Abstract: A primary cell having an anode comprising lithium or lithium alloy and a cathode comprising iron disulfide (FeS2) or a mixture of iron disulfide (FeS2) and iron sulfide (FeS) and conductive carbon particles. A cathode slurry is prepared comprising the FeS2 or FeS2 plus FeS powder, conductive carbon, binder, and a solvent. The binder is preferably a styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene (SEBS) block copolymer. There is an advantage discovered in utilizing a hydronaphthalene solvent to form the cathode slurry. The preferred solvent is 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene or decahydronaphthalene and mixtures thereof. The slurry mixture is coated onto a conductive substrate and the solvent evaporated leaving a dry cathode coating on the substrate. Higher drying temperature may be used resulting in a dry cathode coating which resists cracking. The anode and cathode can be spirally wound with separator therebetween and inserted into the cell casing with electrolyte then added.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2008Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventors: Maya Stevanovic, Michael Pozin, Yelena Kouznetsova, Steven J.
