    Abstract: A lubricant and method for cleaning a drive chain of an apparatus, such as a bicycle or motorcycle. The lubricant of the present invention comprises a water miscible lubricating material, that will tend to stay on the chain during dry, and typical wet condition encountered on a bicycle, yet enable the removal with a direct blast from a solvent. The method for cleaning the drive chain comprises providing the solvent, such as any polar liquid, such as water. A continuous supply of clean solvent may be available from a source, such as a common garden hose or bottle. Forceful spraying onto the first surface in the direction of the arrows removes lubricant that is contaminated with dirt and/or sand from the first surface of the chain to form a layer of solvent and contaminated lubricant on the ground upon which the apparatus is supported or rides.

    Abstract: The vehicle (10) includes a frame (12) having at least three non-circular wheels (20, 22, 24) secured to a frame (12), wherein the wheels are mechanically secured to each other so that whenever one non-circular wheel moves, the other wheels (20, 22, 24) move. An offset arm (76) powered by a motor (78) rotates a weight (84) around a geometric center adjacent the wheels to sequentially tip them so that their sequential tipping moves the vehicle (10). The non-circular wheels (20, 22, 24) are sequentially aligned with respect to each other so that whenever one wheel is tipped from a collapse alignment (32) into a contact alignment (34), sequentially the next non-circular wheel (20, 22, 24) is moved into a collapse alignment (32). Any driving force may be used to sequentially tip the non-circular wheels (20, 22, 24, 26), instead of the rotating weight (84).

    Abstract: Sandwich structures and methods of making same. A core material structure based on blow molded segments has been developed to facilitate the use of very thick sandwich panels, 4 to 72 in. thick. The basic concept uses an array of hollow rectangular segments arranged in a sheet, to form the core, with sandwich face skins on top and bottom. The hollow core segments have wall thicknesses from about 0.015 to 0.250 in. Once the blow molded core (BMC) segments and skins are bonded together, using resin infusion (or other molding techniques) the sides of the segments form webs which act as though they were continuous; like a giant rectangular honeycomb. Sandwich structure thicknesses of 4 to 18 in. have been demonstrated.

    Abstract: In one aspect, the invention relates to processes for producing substantially free-flowing shapes of macrocyclic oligoester, wherein the freshly-shaped macrocyclic oligoester is maintained at elevated temperature for a sufficient time. In certain embodiments, the shapes are heated in water, thereby avoiding agglomeration during the heating process itself. In another aspect, the invention relates to processes for removing solvent from a solution of macrocyclic oligoester using elevated temperature, reduced pressure, or both, thereby obviating the need for an anti-solvent to precipitate the macrocyclic oligoester from the solution. Other aspects of the invention related to shaping of macrocyclic oligoesters are presented as well.

For example, in certain embodiments, the invention provides blends of macrocyclic polyester oligomer (MPO), catalyst, and promoter that are substantially stable at ambient temperature for a period of time. The blend material may be stored without premature polymerization of MPO or deactivation of catalyst. The invention also provides processes employing one-part, ready-to-polymerize blends that contain MPO, catalyst, and promoter, as well as processes in which the catalyst and promoter are used in separate streams and are contacted when it is desired to accelerate polymerization of MPO. Methods of the invention offer advantages in the manufacture of thermoplastic parts and composites, due at least in part to the unique properties of MPO.
