  • Patent number: 10982359
Abstract: A custom-fit sock is described. The sock includes a tubular body formed from a number of courses and wales. The tubular body includes a foot portion and a leg portion merging substantially at the ankle of a wearer. The foot portion defines a foot bottom portion and an upper instep portion and further includes a heel portion positioned adjacent the foot bottom portion at a first end of the foot portion and a toe portion positioned adjacent the foot bottom portion at a second end of the foot portion. A first course includes a first number of stitches formed using a first number of selected needles of the circular knitting machine. The first number of selected needles is less than a total number of needles of the circular knitting machine.

  • Publication number: 20180343927
Abstract: A double layer sock and a sock having a seam under the toes of a wearer are described. The sock includes a tubular outer layer and an inner layer. The tubular outer layer includes a foot portion and a leg portion. The foot portion defines a foot bottom portion and an upper instep portion. The inner layer includes a number of edges that define a perimeter and is substantially aligned with the foot bottom portion of the tubular outer layer. One of the yarns extends between the inner layer and the tubular outer layer to connect the inner layer and the tubular outer layer around the perimeter of the inner layer and at spaced apart wales and courses. A region of the double layer sock corresponding to the upper instep portion is single-layered while a region of the double layer sock corresponding to the foot bottom portion is double-layered.

  • Publication number: 20160340811
Abstract: Fabrics, socks, and methods are described in which conductive traces are integrally knit into fabric for making a sock. In some cases, certain stitches are selected for knitting conductive yarn in addition to or in place of the main body yarn of the sock. The conductive yarn creates a conductive trace in a wale-wise and/or a course-wise direction, with the conductive trace extending from a first connection point (such as a sensor pad) to a second connection point (such as an electrical contact for connecting a device). The conductive trace is designed to transmit an electrical signal between the first and second connection points, such that data collected at the first connection point may be transmitted via the pathway provided by the conductive trace to the second connection point and the connected device, where the data can be analyzed and/or displayed to the wearer.

  • Patent number: 7076973
Abstract: There is provided a sock formed on a circular knitting machine. The sock has a tubular body including a cuff defining an opening to receive the foot of the wearer and includes a toe portion, a foot portion, a heel and a relatively narrow looped tab loop comprising a knit strip integrally knit onto the opening at the top of the tubular body and including opposed ends. The knit strip is folded intermediate the ends to provide a loop having inner and outer layers with open opposed sides, and the ends of the inner and outer layers of the looped tab and connecting the same to the cuff whereby the looped tab extends downwardly therefrom and is adapted to be disposed on the outside of the shoe. The sock knit strip comprises a plurality of knit courses of equal length having opposed selvage ends and the length of the knit courses forming the looped tab are preferably less than one-fourth the length around the opening.

  • Patent number: 6612136
Abstract: A sock of double layer knit construction formed on a circular knitting machine, including a tubular inner layer and a tubular outer layer surrounding the inner layer. The inner layer and the outer layer are connected together during the knitting thereof at spaced locations by a yarn extending between the layers. The connecting yarn is knit predominately in one of the layers and is knit into the other layer for connecting purposes only. The connecting yarn is knit into the other layer as tuck stitch loops.
