Publication number: 20240116207Abstract: A sealant spreader device fills voids around a drilled hole with sealant in glued-in-rod (GIR) structures. A liquid sealant may be applied to the base of a drilled hole. A sealant spreader device is then inserted to the base of the drilled hole, through the sealant. The sealant spreader device is then withdrawn while rotating. The sealant spreader device includes winged sections having contours which force the sealant radially outward toward walls of the hole, into any voids around the circumference of the drilled hole, and leaves a thin layer of sealant around the circumference of the drilled hole.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2022Publication date: April 11, 2024Applicant: Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc.Inventors: Steven E. Publication number: 20180096020Abstract: Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, methods, and computer program products for validating educational content in an educational content management system. In some implementations, a validation rule can be generated. A first request to add first educational content to an educational content management system can be processed. A validation error associated with the first educational content can be identified using the validation rule. A first notification indicating the validation error can be provided to a user interface of a display device. A second request to add second educational content to the educational content management system can be processed. It can be determined that the second educational content satisfies the first validation rule. A second notification can be provided to the user interface of the display device indicating that the second educational content satisfies the first validation rule.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2017Publication date: April 5, 2018Inventors: Abhishek Bangalore Sreenivasa, Steven L. Publication number: 20120222269Abstract: The portable assist handle for vehicle entry and exit is removably installable across the span of an open vehicle door to facilitate the entry and exit of a person from the vehicle. The device includes a central tubular member and a closed handgrip portion extending therefrom. The handgrip portion may include a resilient cover to provide a better grip for the user. Two mutually opposed arms extend from the opposite ends of the central tubular member. The arms adjust telescopically and lock at the desired length to adjust for the open doorway span. Each arm has an adjustable grip extending therefrom, one grip being oriented to grip the edge of the vehicle roof at the door opening and the other grip being oriented to grip the upper edge of the frame of the vehicle door. The grips are easily secured and loosened to allow removal for storage.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2011Publication date: September 6, 2012Inventor: STEVEN L. ANDERSON

Publication number: 20100281676Abstract: A method for making a metal bat of the kind used for playing baseball or softball and having a hollow metallic shell including a wide barrel at one end, a narrow handle at the opposite end, and a tapered portion laying therebetween. The bat shell is initially thinned such that the original thickness and the corresponding weight thereof are reduced. A reactive hitting surface is then applied over the thinned bat shell around at least the barrel. The reactive hitting surface is preferably a metallic sleeve or a metallic coating that is applied directly to the barrel. Accordingly, the reactive hitting surface and the barrel will flex in unison with one another as a single integral surface in response to a ball striking the bat, wherein to increase the performance of the bat. A weight is added inside the handle of the hollow shell to balance the bat after thinning the shell and applying the reactive hitting surface over the barrel.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 5, 2009Publication date: November 11, 2010Inventors: Steven L. Anderson, Joshua D. Sullivan

Patent number: 6612945Abstract: A multi-wall bat of the type used for playing baseball or softball. The bat includes a hollow metallic inner wall having a spiral textured surface and a hollow metallic outer wall surrounding the inner wall. The outer wall lies against the spiral textured surface of the inner wall, whereby the area of contact between the inner and outer walls of the bat is minimized. By virtue of the precise and constant contact between the outer wall and the raised peaks of the textured surface of the inner wall, the inner and outer walls are adapted to flex both independently of and simultaneously with each other in response to a ball striking the bat. One of the inner or outer walls is capable of being slidably displaced relative to the other wall in response to a ball striking the bat.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2002Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Inventor: Steven L. Anderson

Patent number: 6440017Abstract: A metal bat for playing softball or baseball having a two-part barrel structure for localizing the hitting area of the bat to the barrel and isolating the hitting area from the handle at which the bat is gripped. A hollow metallic inner shell extends continuously from an end cap of the bat to an end knob and includes a first end forming the handle, a second end forming the barrel and a tapered region lying therebetween. A metallic outer sleeve surrounds the barrel at the second end of the metallic inner shell between the end cap and a thickness transition area of the inner shell located at the tapered region. The barrel is adapted to flex symmetrically between a barrel supporting flange of the end cap and the thickness transition area at the tapered region in response to the bat striking a ball.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1999Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Inventor: Steven L. Patent number: 6045467Abstract: A redundant locking system for reliably securing a weldless knob to the handle of a metal baseball or softball bat to prevent the risk of a detachement of the knob from the handle and the possibility of injury to nearby persons and property in response to pulling forces applied to the knob during use of the bat. A first locking feature includes a high strength anaerobic adhesive bond that is established at the interface of the bat handle and the knob when the handle is received within a longitudinal cavity formed in the knob. A back-up locking feature includes a resilient locking ring that is located in a circumferential channel of the knob to surround the handle. The locking ring is relocated from the circumferential channel to a tapered ring retention chamfer of the knob to be clamped around the handle and thereby prevent the detachment of the knob from the handle should the adhesive bond fail when the pulling forces are applied to the knob.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1998Date of Patent: April 4, 2000Inventor: Steven L. Patent number: 4800575Abstract: The frequency of a local clock in the receiving modem is selected to be one half of the sum of the frequency of the mark tone and the frequency of the space tone. The received tones are converted into digital words and the phase of each sample of a digital word is calculated relative to the modem clock. A predetermined number of the phase calculations are stored and the difference between one phase calculation and another phase calculation is made. The number of samples between the one and another is selected such that the difference calculation results in an approximately +90 degrees if the samples represent a mark tone and approximately -90 degrees if the samples represent a space tone. Thus, the sign of the phase difference calculation is determinative of the tone being received.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1987Date of Patent: January 24, 1989Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventor: Steven L. Patent number: 4797900Abstract: Modems such as type 201 modems are subject to pattern sensitivity problems caused primarily by different group delay characteristics for the patterns. The method of this invention minimizes such problems by determining different clock phase positions for group delayed patterns and uses same when such patterns are being received. A normal clock phase is determined during training and is used when patterns without substantial group delay are being received.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Universal Data Systems, Inc.Inventor: Steven L.
