  • Patent number: 7344524
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article is disclosed having a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. The absorbent article has first, second and third pairs of leg elastics secured between an outer cover and an inner liner. The first, second and third leg elastics are arranged around each of the pair of leg openings with each of the third pair of leg elastics being positioned intermediate one of each of the first and second pairs of leg elastics. Each of the third pair of leg elastics is also separated from one of the first pair of leg elastics by a first gap and from one of the second pair of leg elastics by a second gap.

  • Publication number: 20070084739
Abstract: A box for storing fishing flies including a cover assembly having two dish-like cover portions, each having a continuous distal edge portion; and a hinge affording pivotal movement of the cover portions between an open position and a closed position with the distal edge portions of the cover portions opposed to and closely spaced from each other. A fly retaining assembly included in the box comprises a support plate that extends between the distal edge portions of the cover portions in their closed position, can be engaged by flies, can pivot relative to the hinge independent of the cover portions, and can be removed from between the cover portions when they are open. A layer of over molded sealing material provided on the support plate is in sealing engagement with the edge portions of the adjacent cover portions when they are in their closed position.

  • Publication number: 20050279012
Abstract: A box for storing flies used for fishing including a cover assembly having two dish-like cover portions, each of which cover portions includes a central wall part, and side wall parts around the periphery of the central wall part projecting generally in the same direction away from the central wall part and having a continuous distal edge portion; and a hinge having hinge portions attached to the side wall parts adjacent second sides of the central wall parts. The hinge affords pivotal movement of the cover portions between a closed position with the distal edge portions of the cover portions opposed to, closely spaced from, and generally aligned with each other, and an open position with the distal edge portions spaced away from and out of alignment with each other.

  • Patent number: 6957379
Abstract: An apparatus and method for increasing the data storage capacity of a data storage device 100 having media surfaces 23. One or more of a linear density of data, a track density of data, or an error code level of data, is selected for a portion 35 of a media surface 23. Data is recorded on the portion 35 of the media surface 23 at the selected linear density, track density, or error code level. Thereafter, the recorded data is read and an error rate of the recorded data is derived, directly or indirectly. The derived error rate is compared to an acceptable error rate, and if the derived error rate is greater than the acceptable error rate, the previous steps are repeated for another linear density, track density, or error code level, until the derived error rate is less than or equal to the acceptable error rate, to provide a recordable linear density, track density, or error code level of data for the media surface 23.

  • Patent number: 6751039
Abstract: A method of controlling bias supply sources for magneto-resistive transducer (MR) heads to provide essentially the same predetermined lifetime for the MR heads, by determining dependence of head lifetime on bias supply level and on head stripe temperature, and setting a bias supply level for each head based on said dependence of lifetime on bias supply level and on head temperature, to provide essentially the same predetermined lifetime for the heads.

  • Patent number: 6697203
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a lifetime for a medium to fail due to thermal decay of a magnetization pattern is provided. Different stress magnetic fields are applied to a write head for writing to a machine-readable medium resulting in a magnetic field on the medium. A time to failure, corresponding to each of the different stress magnetic fields, is determined, the time to failure being an amount of time for an amplitude of a signal on the medium to degrade beyond a predetermined failure criteria. A time to failure without a stress magnetic field is determined based on the corresponding times to failure determined for each of the different stress currents.

  • Patent number: 6304407
Abstract: A coarse magnetic template pattern is transferred to a data storage surface of a disk by magnetic printing techniques. As printed, the template pattern essentially provides clocking and may provide radial position information. The disk is then assembled into a completed and enclosed disk drive. The template pattern is then used by the disk drive to self-write highly resolved product embedded servo patterns onto storage surfaces of each data disk including the surface having the printed template pattern.

  • Patent number: 6158465
Abstract: A rotary valve assembly includes a housing for positioning on an engine of the piston and cylinder type. The housing includes an intake passage for conducting a working fluid to the cylinder and an exhaust passage for conducting the working fluid from the cylinder. The housing has an internal cavity which intercepts the intake and exhaust passages, which cavity contains a rotary valve member having a window. The window is so positioned that when the member is rotated, it opens and closes the intake and exhaust passages in a periodic manner. The valve assembly may also include a throttle member mounted in the housing parallel to the rotary valve member. The throttle member has a hole which may be positioned opposite the intake passage.

  • Patent number: 6029617
Abstract: A modular rotary discoid valve assembly includes a housing for positioning on an engine of the piston and cylinder type. The housing includes an intake passage for conducting a working fluid to the cylinder and an exhaust passage for conducting the working fluid from the cylinder. The housing has an internal cavity which intercepts the intake and exhaust passages, which cavity contains a rotary valve member having a window whose size may vary with increasing distance from the disc axis and/or angular position on the member. The window is so positioned that when the member is rotated, it opens and closes the intake and exhaust passages in a periodic manner. The valve assembly also includes a throttle member mounted in the housing parallel to the rotary valve member. The throttle member has a hole which may be positioned opposite the intake passage.

Abstract: A modular rotary discoid valve assembly includes a housing for positioning on an engine the piston and cylinder type. The housing includes an intake passage for conducting a working fluid to the cylinder and an exhaust passage for conducting the working fluid from the cylinder. The housing is formed with an internal cavity which intercepts the intake and exhaust passages, which cavity contains a rotary valve member having a window whose shape and/or angular positions on the disc varies with increasing distance from the disc axis. The window is so positioned that when the member is rotated to a first angular position, the window is located opposite the intake passage whereby the working fluid can flow along the intake passage through the window to the cylinder and when the member is rotated to a second angular position, the window is located opposite the exhaust passage so that the working fluid can flow from the cylinder through the window along the exhaust passage.

  • Patent number: 4909407
Abstract: A stamped and scored one-piece container lid with an integral push-in tear tab has a tab-defining score line formed with a bottom wall, an inclined first side wall and a second side wall opposite to the first side wall and which is upset onto the bottom wall and the lower portion of the first side wall forming a ring around the latter with the result that the tab is relatively easy to push in, but is able to withstand an appreciable outward force due to pressure inside the associated container.

  • Patent number: 4723684
Abstract: A stamped and scored one-piece container lid with an integral push-in tear tab has a ridge embossed in the tear tab and a push location to the rear of the ridge. When the push location is depressed, the tab tears along its score line and rotates into the container. The ridge prevents the user's digit from sliding along the declining tab through the opening in the lid left by the tab and possibly contacting the sharp edge thereof. Special indentations may be formed in the lid at or near the opposite ends of the score line which make it easier to depress the tab to produce a large effective pour opening in the lid.
