  • Patent number: 9021632
Abstract: The present invention provides a patient positioning device, which enables the latest advances in Stereotactic Radiation Therapy. The geometry, which incorporates at least one window or lateral cut-out, is designed to allow clear treatment access to the patient during non-coplanar treatment regimes through the use of windows or lateral cut-outs. A laterally positionable diaphragm compression device allows the full use of the geometry. The development of a stand-alone device and a couch top insert device allows for a maximum number of protocol methods while minimizing the skin surface radiation dose to the patient.

  • Publication number: 20130023448
Abstract: A method for treating hydrocarbon-servicing fluid is provided for reducing contaminants, especially bacteria, volatile and semi-volatile organics, in hydrocarbon-servicing fluids by microwaving and irradiating the fluid with ultraviolet light, with or without use of catalyst. The treated fluid can be used in upstream and downstream hydrocarbon processing operations.

  • Publication number: 20090273796
Abstract: A method for imaging a media is provided which includes supporting a substrate and the media in a layered configuration. An imaging head is operated to image the media by directing radiation beams towards a surface of the imaged media while effecting relative movement between the imaging head and the support. A roller is brought into contact with the imaged media. The roller can be brought into contact with an un-imaged region of the surface of the imaged media, the un-imaged region corresponding to a region of the surface of the imaged media that is not impinged by the radiation beams. The un-imaged region could be an edge portion of the media. Relative movement is effected between an axis of rotation of the roller and the support to cause the roller to roll on the regions of the surface of the imaged media impinged by the radiation beams.

  • Patent number: 6848671
Abstract: A valve stem seal assembly includes several protrusions or bumps on the bottom of a spring seat flange or on a spring wear washer surrounding the seal. The protrusions can be either cast formed or machined in place. In described embodiments, the protrusions are adapted to engage corresponding depressions, holes, or receptors in a cylinder head deck surface against which the flange or wear washer abuts. A positive mechanical anchor is thereby created for resisting any torque applied to the flange or washer through mechanical vibration induced rotation of the valve spring. Sliding contact is thereby avoided at the interface between the flange or washer and the cylinder head, and wear is prevented. Use of one disclosed embodiment will require that the cylinder head manufacturer provides a cylinder head that includes several small depressions or apertures in the valve spring seat area that correspond with the disclosed protrusions or bumps.

  • Publication number: 20040046126
Abstract: An atmospheric pressure ion source, e.g. for a mass spectrometer, that produces ions by atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI). It includes a vaporizer, a photon source for photoionizing vapor molecules upon exit from the vaporizer, a passageway for transporting ions to, for example, a mass spectrometer system, and a means for directing the ions into the passageway. The center axis of the vaporizer and the center axis of the passageway form an angle that may be about 90 degrees. Included in the invention is a method for creating ions by atmospheric pressure photoionization along an axis and directing them into a passageway oriented at an angle to that axis.

  • Patent number: 5332098
Abstract: The present invention includes a portable vehicle adhesive remover having a motor unit and an eraser unit which includes a resilient eraser member and a disc member embedded in the eraser member. When the high speed rotating eraser member is engaged to pinstripes, decals, side moldings and other adhered items, it can generate adequate heat to cause the adhesive to lose its adhesion and thus release the pinstripes, decals, side moldings and other adhered items, so they can be removed without damaging the paint or other body parts of the vehicle. The present invention also includes a portable preparation tool kit for automobile body work and the like. The tool kit includes a case, a rotary pneumatic motor with accessories, a various different sized abrasive tools, and different shaped and sized sand tools. All of the abrasive and sand tools can be interchangeably connected to and driven by the rotary pneumatic motor.
