  • Patent number: 6027164
Abstract: A combination seat and armrest comprised of a support structure, which may be in the form of a container having an open top and bottom, and two cushion members which are pivotally connected to the support structure. Each cushion member may be pivoted between a generally flat position in which the second cushion member overlies the first and a generally upright position in which a storage compartment defined on the sides by the support structure may be accessed by front seated vehicle occupants. Several alternate embodiments are included which provide for additional storage or functional features, such as beverage container holders.

  • Patent number: 5934732
Abstract: A rear seat assembly for a vehicle can be moved between a seating configuration and a load floor configuration without requiring the operation of release pins or knobs. The seat assembly includes a mount assembly bolted to the floor of the vehicle and a seat back pivotably engaged with the mount assembly. The seat back is formed with a lower finger. A seat cushion is movably coupled to the mount assembly, and an interlock pin is immovably formed, as by welding, to the seat cushion. The seat cushion can be pushed backwardly to a seating configuration, in which the seat cushion is juxtaposed with the seat back and the interlock pin abuts the engagement surface to hold the seat back upright. Also, the seat cushion can be rotated forwardly to distance the interlock pin from the seat back and thereby permit the seat back to be pushed downwardly into a horizontal load floor configuration.

  • Patent number: 5533353
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for variably controlling the temperature at which the clutch of an air conditioner compressor is engaged and disengaged. The temperature at which the compressor clutch is engaged and disengaged is based on an average minimum temperature at the evaporator over a clutch cycle, wherein the clutch disengage temperature is increased if the average minimum temperature is below a first predetermined temperature and is decreased if the average minimum temperature is above a second predetermined temperature, thus maintaining the average minimum temperature within a temperature range. Further, the clutch disengage temperature is adjusted based on user operated air conditioner control settings. The clutch disengage temperature is adjusted to a higher temperature if a low blower speed is selected by the user and is adjusted to a lower temperature if a high blower speed is selected.
