Patent number: 11980300Abstract: A refrigerated display case chassis includes a first insulated panel and a second insulated panel. The first insulated panel has a first foam layer bounded by a first pair of thermally conductive sheets. The first insulated panel forms a first wall of the refrigerated display case chassis. The second insulated panel has a second foam layer bounded by a second pair of thermally conductive sheets. The second insulated panel forms a second wall of the refrigerated display case chassis. The second insulated panel mates with the first insulated panel to form a thermally insulated joint where, in cross-section, one sheet of the first pair of thermally conductive sheets terminates at a surface of the second foam layer. The thermally conductive sheets have a greater thermal conductivity than the first or second foam layers.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2021Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: Hill Phoenix, Inc.Inventors: Lawrence William Eget, Steven O. Stubblefield, Nicholas Jeffers, Daniela Guadalupe Medina

Patent number: 8845045Abstract: A temperature-controlled case is provided including a frame and a door coupled to the frame and pivotable about a pivot axis between a closed position and an open position. The door includes a passage that interchangeably receives a door closure control assembly at one of the top or the bottom of the door, and an electrical connectivity system at the other of the top or the bottom of the door. The electrical connectivity system includes a first electrical connector coupled to the door, and a second electrical connector coupled to the frame so that the first and second electrical connectors are engaged when the door is coupled to the frame. The door closure control assembly includes a torsion spring that is fixed at one end to the door and fixed at another end to the frame, so that when the door is opened the torsion spring provides an increasing force to urge the door toward the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2011Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: Hill Phoenix, Inc.Inventor: Steven O. Patent number: 8776439Abstract: A modular door system is provided including at least one substantially transparent panel and a frame extending about a perimeter of the panel. The frame includes a pair of horizontal frame elements and a pair of vertical frame elements. One vertical frame element is configured to pivot about a pivot axis so that the other vertical frame element is movable between an open and a closed position. The modular door system further includes at least one receptacle disposed in the frame and a first cartridge removably receivable in the receptacle to facilitate pivoting the one vertical frame element about the pivot axis. The first cartridge is replaceable or interchangeable with at least a second cartridge. The cartridges may provide for the modular door system to be post-formation customized to change, add, or remove certain functionalities or features.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2010Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Hill Phoenix, Inc.Inventors: Larry C. Howington, Steven O. Stubblefield

Patent number: 8393130Abstract: A door module for a refrigerated case includes a central panel with a peripheral flange. A first panel is disposed on one side of the central panel and is supported by the flange. A second panel is disposed on another side of the central panel and is supported by the flange. A first seal is disposed between the first side of the flange and the first panel, and a second seal is disposed between the second side of the flange and the second panel. A channel with a desiccant material is disposed within the flange. A first opening extends from the channel to a first space between the first panel and the central panel, and a second opening extends from the channel to a second space between the second panel and the central panel. A frame is coupled to the flange and overlaps the first and second panels.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2011Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Hill Phoenix, Inc.Inventor: Steven O. Stubblefield

Patent number: 7374186Abstract: A system for moving a refrigeration device is disclosed and includes a frame for supporting the refrigeration device. At least one pair of stationary casters are removably coupled to the frame. At least one pair of adjustable casters are removably coupled to the frame and are adjustable relative to the frame within a range between an extended position and a retracted position. A positioner provided on at least one of the frame and the adjustable casters establishes a position for the adjustable casters relative to the frame within the range, so that the stationary casters and the adjustable casters are capable of providing a desired degree of stability during movement of the refrigeration device and the stationary casters and the adjustable casters are removable following movement of the refrigeration device.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2005Date of Patent: May 20, 2008Assignee: Dover Systems, Inc.Inventors: Kevin J. Mason, Steven O. Stubblefield, Steven L. Rembisz

Patent number: 7121104Abstract: An adjustable shelving system is disclosed for an open-front refrigerated display case having an air-curtain at least partially across a front of the display case and having a shelf configured to hold products to be displayed. A first bracket and a second bracket are coupled to an interior panel of the display case where each bracket includes a first travel stop and a spaced-apart second travel stop. The shelf has pin members that interface with the brackets and engage the travel stops. The pin members engage the first travel stop to retain the shelf in a first position and engage the second travel stop to retain the shelf in a second position having an angle of inclination relative to the first position. A distance from a front edge of the shelf and the air curtain is substantially constant between the first position and the second position.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2004Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: Delaware Capital Formation, Inc.Inventors: Larry C.
