Abstract: A control apparatus for a premises based system is provided. The control apparatus has an improved memory and processor configuration for separate operation of the life safety and life style code so that the operation of the life style code may be changed without changing the operation of the life safety code, such as through the use of a virtual machine or code running at a single operating system layer. The memory may store life safety code in a first partition and life style code in a second partition. The life style code may be updated while life safety code continues to run.

In an embodiment, provided is a method of improving a roofing system comprising a thermoplastic roofing membrane. The method comprises installing one or more thermoplastic coated raised metal profiles on the roofing system. A side of the one or more thermoplastic coated raised metal profiles comprises a thermoplastic layer. Installing the one or more thermoplastic coated raised metal profiles on the roofing system comprises welding the thermoplastic layer to the thermoplastic roofing membrane. The presently disclosed raised profiles provide not only desirable aesthetics to thermoplastic roofing systems, but can also provide structural benefits to the roofing system.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to systems, apparatus, and methods for online purchasing. In one example, a system includes a web server that presents purchase options and receives user input. The system may also include an application server that attempts to authenticate users to existing accounts using an account identifier, such as a user ID or email address. If a user does not provide an identifier corresponding to an existing account, the application server may create a new account. If the user provides an identifier corresponding to an existing account, but does not provide a valid password, the application server may create a provisional account. The application server may also associate purchases with the user's account and provide access to the purchased product. Purchases associated with a provisional account may be resolved with an existing or newly-created permanent account when additional user information is received, such when the product is registered.

Abstract: A method for providing communications between a system control panel at a premises and a central monitoring center comprises transmitting an event code from the control panel to the monitoring center utilizing a first communications format and a network protocol, and causing the control panel to enter a call-back mode. The control panel is enabled to receive in-bound calls utilizing a second communications format. A two-way voice session is established utilizing the second communications format between the monitoring center and the control panel. The two-way voice session is initiated by the monitoring center.

Abstract: A topical hair treatment or a topical dermatological or cosmetic composition includes a liquid having approximately 0.2 to 0.5 mg/mL of a xanthene derivative. The xanthene derivative can be a methylxanthene. The methylxanthene can be theophylline, caffeine, and/or theobromine. Preferably, the methylxanthene is caffeine selected from hydrous caffeine, caffeine salts, and complexes dissociated to yield caffeine. Caffeine is present in an amount of approximately 0.3 mg/mL. There is also provided a saw palmetto berry derivative present in the liquid in an amount of approximately 0.02 to 0.05 mg/mL. Preferably, the saw palmetto berry derivative is saw palmetto berry extract, in particular, hydrous saw palmetto berry extract. The saw palmetto berry extract is present in said liquid in an amount of approximately 0.03 mg/mL. The liquid can be a shampoo, a conditioner, and/or a combination shampoo and conditioner.

Abstract: A particular healthcare provider's medico-legal risk relative to other healthcare providers practicing in the same field as the particular healthcare provider is determined by: acquiring information about the particular healthcare provider; and processing the acquired information to generate a medico-legal risk score for the particular healthcare provider. The medico-legal risk score generated for the particular healthcare provider may be used by an insurance company to determine whether to provide a malpractice insurance policy to the healthcare provider and/or to determine the amount of a premium for a malpractice insurance policy for the particular healthcare provider. Calculation of the particular healthcare provider's medico-legal risk score is performed using a computer program-implemented algorithm that automatically generates the medical-legal risk score in response to input of information about the particular healthcare provider.

Abstract: A lamp having a hydrocarbon fuel source is provided. The lamp includes a housing and a fuel source containing hydrocarbon fuel. A mantle is disposed inside the housing and is in communication with the exit of the fuel source. A cover is attached to the housing in thermal communication with the interior housing. The cover has a slot and a replaceable pad is disposable in the slot; the pad preferably contains a volatilizable substance. When the fuel egresses the fuel source and is ignited and burns, heat generated from the fuel is conducted through the cover to the pad so that the volatilizable substance is volatilized. The volatilizable substance is preferably an insect repellent. The lamp may be portable such as a flashlight. A separately attachable cover that may retrofit an existing lamp is also provided.

Abstract: A cordless, hydrocarbon fuel powered hairdryer. The invention incorporates a novel electronic control system which evaluates the thermal and electrical conditions within the hairdryer during its operation. Two fuel flow valves are provided. The first fuel flow valve is mechanically actuated and opens and closes the valve in the hydrocarbon fuel cartridge. The second fuel flow valve is a solenoid valve that cannot open without a predetermined voltage being supplied. Application of the predetermined voltage will allow gas to flow through this second valve and into the area where the fuel is ignited. Only when both valves (the mechanical and the solenoid) are open, can fuel flow. A microcontroller monitors the temperature conditions in the combustion area, and controls system conditions such as power to the solenoid valve and to the fan motor to prevent uncombusted gas from building up and presenting a safety hazard.
