  • Patent number: 11992908
Abstract: An extraction apparatus (20) for a cutting machine (10). The extraction apparatus (20) comprises first and second portions (21, 22) rotatable one relative to the other for angular movement between two opposed positions. A slidable coupling (27) defines a fluid flow path (29) for fluid communication between the first and second portions (21, 22) during said angular movement between the two opposed positions, whereby fluid can flow from the interior (45) of the first portion (21) into the second portion (22). The slidable coupling (27) comprises first and second coupling sections (61, 62) slidable one with respect to the other. The second coupling section (62) is hollow to define an open interior (63). The first coupling section (61) defines a duct (65) opening onto the interior (63) of the second coupling section (62), whereby the duct (65) and the interior (63) of the second coupling section (62) cooperate to define the fluid flow path (29).

  • Publication number: 20230003327
Abstract: A coupling (40) for connecting a suction line (31) to a first fluid flow and an exhaust gas flow, the coupling (40) comprising first and second portions (51, 52). The first portion (51) is adapted to receive an end section (34) of the suction line (31) and the second portion (52) is adapted to cooperate with the first portion (51) for engaging a portion of the end section (34) therebetween. The first portion (51) has an opening (63) for receiving an exhaust outlet (16, 17) configured to deliver an exhaust gas flow into the first portion (51). Engagement of the end section (34) between the first and second portions (51, 52) serves to compress a marginal portion of a side wall (37) or side port (36) in the end section (34) of the suction line (31). An apparatus (10) including a rotary tool element (19) and including the coupling (40) is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10641145
Abstract: An extraction apparatus (10) adapted to capture exhaust gas emitted by an internal combustion engine and to dilute the exhaust gas by mixing with air and also cool the exhaust gas. The extraction apparatus (10) has a first flow path (31), second flow path (32), and third flow path (33). The first flow path (31) extends between inlet (35) and an outlet (37) for air flow from the inlet to the outlet. The second flow path (32) receives exhaust gas emitted from the engine and delivers it into the first flow path (31) for mixing with an air flow along the first flow path. The third flow path (33) delivers water for mixing with the air flow. The arrangement is such that there is confluence of air, exhaust gas and water to provide a fluid mixture for discharging through the outlet (37). The exhaust gas is cooled using the cooling effects of the air and also the cooling effects of water in heat exchange relation with the exhaust gas prior to mixing of the exhaust gas with the air.

  • Patent number: 6916236
Abstract: A machine (10) for performing a working operation such as cutting on a workpiece. The machine (10) has a tool (19) for performing the working operation and a drive motor (13) operable to drive the tool. The drive motor (13) has an exhaust (17) through which an exhaust fluid is discharged during operation. Means (51) are provided for delivering a dust suppression fluid such as water into the vicinity of the tool (19) for suppressing dust generated thereby. A shroud (31) is disposed about the tool (19) for containing dust and the dust suppression fluid, and an extraction line (61) communicates with the shroud (71) for extracting dust and dust suppression fluid contained thereby, as well as air within the shroud. The extraction line (61) further communicates with the exhaust (17) of the drive motor (13) for receiving the exhaust fluid discharging therefrom, the exhaust fluid mixing with the air strength flowing from the shroud.
