  • Patent number: 11072148
Abstract: Material for packaging—and package or receptacle made of such material—that contains a particular aluminized polymeric film with emissivity of equal to, or less than 0.10 and yet sufficiently thin to withstand and satisfy industrial requirements of the recycling process due to substantially complete oxidization of aluminum during the recycling. An optional protective coating (less than one micron in thickness) may be added to protect aluminum in the film from corrosion during the normal use of the packaging. Protective coating is configured to not raise emissivity of the aluminized surface above the 0.10 value and, at the same time, to still allow for the aluminum material it covers to be removed due to becoming fully oxidized and corroded in the heat and at humidity levels used in the recycling/repulping process. Proposed configuration permits the aluminum of the packaging material to be included in the recycled portion of the packaging material.

  • Patent number: 9938740
Abstract: A spa comprising a layer of copper-containing material, a layer of a cotton-containing material external to the layer of copper-containing material, wherein the layer of copper-containing material and the layer of cotton-containing material are at least partially located between outer spa frame studs, and a layer of at least one of a polyester or a polypropylene-containing material external to the layer of cotton-containing material. The layers of copper-containing material, cotton containing material, and at least one of a polyester or a polypropylene-containing material are located between a spa basin and a spa cabinet. The spa bottom may also have a layer of copper-containing material affixed thereon. In some embodiments, the spa may further comprise an insulated cover with a layer of copper-containing material therein.

  • Publication number: 20130052419
Abstract: Radiant-barrier structures include visible images that do not materially alter the emissivity and reflective quality of the barrier. The images are formed either below the reflective metallic layer or on top of the protective layer of the barrier used in commercial and residential construction applications, apparel, tents and other heat-management applications. The images may contain product and application information as well as visual effects with functional and/or decorative value. In some radiant-barrier embodiments the image-forming process enhances the radiant-barrier performance by lowering the surface emissivity.

  • Publication number: 20110262699
Abstract: A multilayer radiant-barrier structure is formed on one or both sides of a substrate that can be attached to an insulating layer to produce a reflective insulating material. The metallized layer is protected from environmental degradation without interfering with flammability properties that are critical for radiant and reflective insulation materials used in housing applications. The metal layer is modified to insulate enclosures without blocking cellular communications and the protective functional layer in modified to minimize emissivity, create a hydrophobic and/or oleophobic surface, and/or prevent mold, fungi and bacteria growth. Solutions are provided to solve occupational-hazard problems associated with the use of these materials in enclosures that include power wires.
