    Abstract: A shield for a hypodermic needle cover comprising a generally flat surface with a central opening permitting the needle cover to be inserted therein, and a locking means to prevent the shield from being removed. The shield is rigid and includes a rim which surrounds the central opening for preventing the hypodermic needle froms slipping off the edge of the shield during insertion.
