  • Patent number: 7963093
Abstract: A steel cord comprises more than one steel filament (10). At least some of the steel filaments have a zinc iron alloy layer (14) partially covered with a zinc cover (16). The zinc cover is only present in valleys formed in the zinc-iron alloy layer. The processability and adhesion level in rubber products of the steel cord are increased.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 12, 2008
Date of Patent: June 21, 2011
    Assignee: NV Bekaert SA
Inventors: Bert Vanderbeken, Paul Bruyneel, Wouter Vandenbranden, Stijn Vancompernolle

  • Publication number: 20100009184
Abstract: A cable (211) is provided comprising a steel cord (212) and a polymer material (215). The steel filaments (213) of the steel cord (212) are coated with an adhesive before the penetration of the polymer material (215). The cable (211) has a structural elongation less than 0.025% and an E module 4% greater than the E module of the steel cord (212). These two improvements further decrease the total elongation of the cable at certain load.

  • Patent number: 7426822
Abstract: A metal cord comprising at least two metal strands. At least one strand is welded, with the welded strand having an elongation at rupture of more than 30% of the elongation at rupture of an identical strand without a weld.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 6, 2003
Date of Patent: September 23, 2008

  • Patent number: 7426821
Abstract: A metal strand comprising at least two filaments. At least one filament is interrupted, providing a filament end, which is fixed to the uninterrupted filaments of the strand using a fixing substance, preferably a soldering substance. Such strand can be used to provide, e.g. cords, rubber, or polymer reinforcement of tires and belts such as elevator or timing belts, hoisting or elevator ropes, control cables, or suspension rope.

  • Publication number: 20070089394
Abstract: A fine steel cord for the reinforcement of synchronous belts is presented. The fine cord has a distinct load elongation curve characterized by a very low structural elongation (below 0.09% preferably below 0.06%), and a high equivaslent modulus between 0.2 and 20% of the breaking, load. The favorable results are maintained when the cords are coated with an elastomer coating. Such a fine steel cord reduces the geometrical spread on the tooth pitch of the synchronous belts during use. A method to produce such a fine steel cord is also presented.

  • Publication number: 20050257874
Abstract: A metal strand (101D) as subject of the invention comprising at least two filaments. At least one filament (105) is interrupted providing a filament end (107A, 107B), which is fixed to the uninterrupted filaments of the strand (101D) using a fixing substance, preferably a soldering substance. Such strand can be used to provide e.g. cords, rubber or polymer reinforcement of tires and belt such as elevator or timing belts, hoisting or elevator ropes, control cables or suspension rope.
