  • Patent number: 6971825
Abstract: A milling tool holder having a spindle with a tapered opening and a tool holder having a tapered shank that fits into the spindle opening. The narrow end of the shank has a split collar. The spindle is joined to the tool holder by inserting the shank into the tapered opening and drawing the two components together using a differential screw. When the differential screw is turned in one direction, the two components are drawn together, and when turned in the opposite direction, the two components are separated. As the shank bottoms in the tapered opening, an annular enlargement on the differential screw expands the split collar of the shank to tightly seat the shank in the spindle.

  • Patent number: 6964547
Abstract: A milling tool holder axially having a shank with a tapered female opening, and a tool holder having a tapered male end that fits into the female opening. The narrow end of the male end has a bore. A plug having a threaded opening is inserted in the bore in the tool holder to align the threaded opening to receive the threaded end of a draw screw. The draw screw is turned to draw the tool holder and the shank together. When the draw screw is turned in one direction, the two components are drawn together, and when turned in the opposite direction the two components may be separated. A camming plug in the narrow end of the tool holder expands the outer surface of the tool holder to wedge the male end in the female opening.

  • Patent number: 6749224
Abstract: An energy absorbing assembly for a vehicle seat belt anchor. Two energy-absorbing members are carried on a seat belt anchor mounting bolt that connects an adjusting rail to a body pillar. One energy-absorbing member, upon contact with an object that is suddenly moving toward the bolt is initially crushed until the object contacts the adjusting rail. A second shock-absorbing member is disposed between the adjusting rail and the body pillar to absorb a continued motion of the object toward the body pillar.

  • Patent number: 6301977
Abstract: Apparatus for suppressing the operation of a vehicle restraint system when a child's seat is mounted in a vehicle car seat. The seat belt is connected by two plates to a vehicle anchor. One plate is stretchable, the other non-stretchable. A low seat belt load does not stretch either plate. A higher load stretches the stretchable plate until the belt load is transferred to the non-stretchable plate.

  • Patent number: 6299394
Abstract: A milling tool holder comprising an elongated body adapted to be supported on a milling tool base. The body has a shank-receiving bore. A tool head supports a pair of indexable inserts, and has a shank received in the shank receiving bore to a position in which an annular face on the head faces a similar face on the body. A pair of projections on the face of the body is received in a pair of openings in the tool head to prevent the tool head from rotating with respect to the body.

  • Patent number: 5108234
Abstract: A ball nosed milling tool that includes a cutter plate having circular segmental cutting edges formed by chord-oriented shoulders inset into opposite faces of the plate. The shoulders form cutting faces that are acutely angled to the midplane of the plate, such that chips are directed away from the rotational axis of the cutter plate. The cutter plate is clamped within a slot in a supporting spindle by means of a threaded fastener that extends transversely through the plate and the spindle. A cylindrical shank portion of the fastener is oriented to exert a cam action on the surface of a hole in the cutter plate, such that the plate is firmly seated in the spindle slot.

  • Patent number: 5064316
Abstract: A milling tool in which a circular cutter plate is located in a transverse slot formed in a rotary spindle. The circular plate has four chord-oriented shoulders inset into its side faces. A plate holder mechanism has a V-shaped edge configuration mated to two of the chord-oriented shoulders, such that the cutter plate is accurately and firmly located within the slotted portion of the spindle. The plate holder mechanism includes an axially extending post that fits into an axial hole in the spindle for accurately orienting the plate holder mechanism to the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4640159
Abstract: A tool holder having a head with four pockets, each for supporting an indexible insert. Each insert is mounted on the head such that it can be indexed to reposition a plurality of cutting edges on the insert. The head has a shank rotatably mounted in a body supported on a machine, such as a lathe. A handle connected to the shank is used to replace an insert in a cutting position with another insert merely by rotating the head and without repositioning the body.

  • Patent number: 4525110
Abstract: An indexable ball nose end mill is disclosed comprising an elongated tool holder having an insert clamped on one end. The insert is indexable such that when one cutting edge has become dull, the insert can be reversed end-for-end to use the cutting edge along the opposite side. The insert is clamped in its position between one end of the holder body and a cap having three protuberances. Two of the protuberances are received in a pair of generally frusto-conical recesses in the insert, and the third is received in a third opening in the body. A threaded fastener connects the cap to the body to clamp the insert in its cutting position. In another embodiment of the invention, two indexable inserts are mounted on the holder body.
