  • Patent number: 9211114
Abstract: A method for promoting soft tissue to soft tissue growth, soft tissue to bone tissue growth or bone tissue to bone tissue growth including coating the soft tissue or bone tissue with a nano-composition that encourages growth and photonically curing the composition to the soft tissue or bone tissue after it has been coated such that the soft tissue or bone tissue is not substantially damaged. A photonic curing system for use in repairing hard or soft tissue in a medical procedure is also provided includes a coating device for coating the tissue with a nano-composition that encourages growth, and a curing device for curing the composition to the tissue after it has been coated such that the first tissue is not substantially damaged.

  • Publication number: 20080188893
Abstract: A suture anchor system for repairing torn or damaged tissue is provided and generally includes a first suture anchor having at least one length of suture attached thereto, and a second suture anchor having at least one length of suture attached thereto. Each length of suture is coupled to one another such that a distance between the first and second suture anchors with respect to each other can be selectively adjustable. The suture anchor system also preferably includes at least one slip knot that allows the first and second suture anchors to be maintained in a fixed position with respect to one another. In use, the suture anchors can be deployed through tissue to be repaired and into the anchoring tissue at a position spaced apart from one another by a selected distance. The suture length(s) can then be tensioned to re-approximate the tom or damaged tissue toward the anchoring tissue, thereby securely attached the torn tissue to the anchoring tissue.

  • Publication number: 20050038427
Abstract: A method of securing a tissue graft within a bone passage includes providing a graft fixation member comprising a closed double-loop having a pair of differently sized loop sections and capturing both sections of the closed-loop within the fixation member. The longer loop section is passed through an opening in the tissue graft then is passed through the smaller loop and thrown over the fixation member to form a knot.

  • Publication number: 20050033325
Abstract: A surgical knot pusher device allows a prepared knot to be pushed down a length of suture without deforming or collapsing the knot. The surgical knot pusher device includes a handle portion and an elongate body extending from the handle portion. The elongate body has a curved tip that is tapered and has a groove along a length of the tip. The tip also includes a central channel extending from the groove to a distal end of the tip.

  • Patent number: 6306159
Abstract: The invention disclosed is a device for repairing a soft tissue defect, particularly a defect in the meniscus of a knee. The device comprises an outer wall anchor for engaging against an outside wall of the meniscus on a first side of the defect, an inner meniscal anchor engaging an inner surface of the meniscus on a second side of the defect, the inner meniscal anchor having a locking mechanism, and a suture adjustably connecting the outer wall anchor to the inner meniscal anchor. Tension on the suture pulls the defect together and the locking mechanism then locks the suture in place.
