  • Patent number: 5104321
Abstract: A dental post 5 has a lower portion 4 that is fitted within a pre-prepared dental root canal 2, 3 and an upper portion 6 to which a dental crown 8 can be fitted. The root canal is provided with a plurality of projections 26 that extend downwardly and inwardly and the post, which is preferably tapered, and the lower portion of the post has a plurality of notches 16 that are preferably independent grooves that face upwardly. The post can then be secured substantially without screwing, by means of cement in the annulus 7 between the post and the canal. Preferably the lower portion of the post is tapered and has grooves or other notches that open upwardly and outwardly and the upper portion has grooves that open downwardly. The pitch of the grooves 16 in the lower portion is generally not more than 0.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 4815625
Abstract: A system of packaging provides two or more interconnected containers A, B, C in which articles are retained and the containers can be separated from one another to gain access to the articles. The packaging is assembled from elements each including a male and female tubular member 10 and 11 interconnected by frangible connecting means 22. Male members are engaged with female members to assemble a chain of containers which pivot relative to one another.Separation of the connecting means to release a container enables the members 10 and 11 to be twisted relative to one another to gain access to the article.

  • Patent number: 4692116
Abstract: A dental pin having a threaded portion for insertion into a tooth is formed with a shank which has portions inclined relative to the threaded portion and to each other. The threaded portion and shank are of integral construction and the shank is of zig-zag shape.A holder for the pin can take several forms each with a bore for receiving the shank releasably but in driving engagement with the holder. The holder may take a form suitable for use with a dental handpiece or for manual insertion of the pin.The invention also provides a holder with a ratchet mechanism for manual insertion of the pin.

  • Patent number: 4451237
Abstract: Dental anchoring means of the kind including a threaded pin which is located in a hole in a tooth. Before insertion into the hole, the pin is integral with a shank through a neck which allows the pin to break off from the shank after insertion. The pin and shank are located in a longitudinal open-ended bore in a connecting member which is arranged to be secured in a dental handpiece. The pin and shank are fixed in the bore by forming an enlarged head on the shank which is a force fit in the bore. This locks the pin and shank securely in the bore during use and the connecting member can be of different material from the shank and pin.
