  • Patent number: 8774212
Abstract: A system and method for managing network traffic is disclosed. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a data switch having a controller element to transmit telemetry data representative of bandwidth usage by one or more users of the data switch. At least one higher bandwidth user can have an increased polling frequency based at least in part on a differential in upstream and downstream data transfer rates for the one or more users. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8613009
Abstract: According to one example embodiment a storage medium having computer instructions which, responsive to being executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations. The operations can include analyzing data from data sources of an internet-protocol television network where the data provided by the data sources includes set-top-box data having voice over internet protocol usage for a plurality of subscribers of the internet protocol television network in a geographic area and correlating video provisioning information obtained from the data sources, individual subscriber channel viewing information, internet-usage data, subscriber data and demographic data to produce correlated information. The operations can include generating one or more reports associated with the plurality of subscribers in the geographic area based on the correlated information. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7848348
Abstract: A system and method for managing network traffic is disclosed. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a data switch having a controller element to transmit telemetry data representative of bandwidth usage by one or more users of the data switch. Traffic for the data switch can be managed based at least in part on the bandwidth usage by higher bandwidth users of the data switch. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7729477
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for detecting faults related to lines linked to provide network services. The method includes storing a synthetic value for the performance of a line, receiving a measured value of a performance parameter of the line measured at a customer end and comparing the synthetic value with the measured value to determine if a fault condition exists.

  • Patent number: 7593833
Abstract: A method for determining performance of data communication lines in a DSL network is provided. The method includes determining a performance metric for at least one line from a first set of data that included measurements for each of a plurality of parameters related to the at least one line; establishing a benchmark utilizing a second set of measurements that includes at least one additional measurement for the plurality of parameters; and comparing the performance metric with the benchmark to determine the performance of the at least one line.
