  • Patent number: 4863332
Abstract: In an apparatus for binding loose sheets in one or more folders there is utilized a regulating circuit means where an inserted folder (F) interrupts a light beam to a photodiode (16) which simultaneously starts a time counter (18) and closes the power supply (via 31) to the heating plate (2), wherewith the binding operation is carried out. The time interval of the timing counter is determined in response to the actual values of the width of the folders and the starting temperature of the heating plate. These values are obtained from a width detector (34, 7, 35) and a temperature detector (28), said values being fed into a microcomputer (19) controlling the timer. When the timer has counted down the time interval to zero, it interrupts the power supply to the heating plate (via 31).

  • Patent number: 4678386
Abstract: A sheet binding apparatus, for attaching loose sheets to one or more folders, has a completely automatic binding process after insertion of the folder(s). This is carried out by a heating assembly, the current supply to which is controlled by a micro-processor having inputs received from a starter device of light detector type, a temperature detector device of thermistor type and a timer device. The timer device is activated by the micro-processor when the temperature detector device indicates working temperature at the heating assembly. In one aspect of the binding process it is also related to the thickness of the folder(s) to be bound. This is carried out by a current control device acting on the supply circuit for the heating assembly in such a way that the thicker the folders inserted, the more current is allowed to the heating assembly.

  • Patent number: 4606689
Abstract: A method of producing a book cover and the like from a blank, the book cover including at least one cover, a spine connected to the cover by at least one crease line, and a bonding agent for adhering pages and the like inserted in the book cover to the inside of the spine, comprising the steps of forming said bonding agent by depositing it as a liquid in a gutter means; cooling said liquid to semi-solid or solid state; aligning said blank to a predetermined position relative to the gutter means; and pressing the blank, the gutter means and the bonding agent in semi-solid state against each other by means of press means to attach the bonding agent to the inside of the spine by adhesion.

  • Patent number: 4367116
Abstract: A binding apparatus, for attaching loose sheets to a folder or file provided with a binding agent, comprises a hotplate (2) against which the folder is inserted through an opening (4) defined between supporting means (5, 6). The hotplate is kept constantly heated, while a time circuit controlled by means of a push button unit (10) activates an alarm means (12) when a set time is at an end. The regulatable time circuit is always zeroed when the folder is taken out of the opening, since the folder affects a light beam across this opening to a photocell which is connected to the time circuit (FIG. 1).
