  • Patent number: 9603077
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for implementation in user equipment that is configured to communicate with a wireless communication system that includes at least one macro-cell and a plurality of femtocells. The method includes providing a call connection request from the user equipment to one of the plurality of femtocells and receiving information indicating a location of the femtocell and information indicating the femto cell is a premier femtocell associated with the user equipment. The call connection request is received at the user equipment from the premier femtocell in response to providing the call connection request. The method further includes storing the information indicating the location of the premier femtocell in the user equipment.

  • Patent number: 9439125
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for implementation in mobile unit that is configured to communicate with a wireless communication system that includes macrocells and femtocells. The macrocells and the femtocells use different generation radio access technologies. The method includes determining a distance between the mobile unit and the femtocell(s) and transmitting a first measurement report when the distance between the mobile unit and the femtocell(s) is less than a threshold distance. The method also includes performing an inter-radio access technology handoff from the base transceiver station to the femtocell when the distance is less than a threshold distance.

  • Patent number: 8718652
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for implementation in user equipment that is configured to communicate with a wireless communication system that includes a macro-cell and a plurality of femtocells that are deployed in a cluster. The method includes providing a call connection request from the user equipment to one of a subset of the plurality of femtocells and receiving information identifying the subset of the femtocells as a femtocell cluster associated with the user equipment. The method also includes receiving information indicating locations of each of the femtocells in the femtocell cluster. The method further includes storing the information identifying the femtocells in the femtocell cluster and the information indicating the locations in the user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20100124927
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for implementation in a mobile unit that is configured to communicate with a wireless communication system that includes macrocells and one or more femtocell(s). The macrocells and the femtocells use different radio access technologies. The method includes periodically reporting, from the mobile unit to the macrocell, a distance between said mobile unit and the femtocell and performing an inter-radio access technology handoff of the mobile unit from the macrocell to the femtocell when the distance is less than a threshold distance.

  • Publication number: 20100113035
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for implementation in user equipment that is configured to communicate with a wireless communication system that comprises one or more macro-cells and one or more femtocells. The method includes comparing, at the user equipment, a location of the user equipment and a location of one or more femtocells. The method also includes transmitting, from the user equipment to the macrocell(s), a first measurement report, with a location-based event, when the comparison indicates that the user equipment is within a selected range of the femtocell(s).

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for implementation in user equipment that is configured to communicate with a wireless communication system that includes macro-cells femtocells. The method includes determining a distance between the user equipment and the femtocell(s). The method also includes periodically transmitting first measurement reports from the user equipment to the macrocell(s) at a selected time interval. The first measurement reports include information indicating the distance between the user equipment and the femtocell(s). The method also includes receiving a request to hand off from the macrocell(s) to the femtocell(s). The request is generated by a radio network controller based on the periodically transmitted measurement reports.

  • Patent number: 7283501
Abstract: The modulated-signal blocks are formed by a sending station from respective data blocks of variable size received from a data source on a time-division multiplexing synchronous link. They are then sent with a specified block rate on multiplexed physical channels. The synchronous link between the data source and the sending station supports dedicated channels respectively associated with the physical channels, each offering a specified transmission capacity determined over a sending period inverse to the block rate, and supplementary channels. A part at least of each data block intended for a physical channel is transmitted on the associated dedicated channel. When the size of the block exceeds the transmission capacity, another part is transmitted on at least one supplementary channel of the synchronous link, allocated dynamically to the physical channel.
