Abstract: The present invention comprises a quick dissolving, long acting zinc therapeutic cold formulation containing high levels of an active compound encapsulated within bioadhesive/muco-adhesive polymers as a controlled release oral drug delivery system. The composition allows for increased residence time for enhanced prophylactic and therapeutic efficacy within the mouth and oral cavity. This allows for a reduction in the number of doses necessary to achieve therapeutic relief which will result in increased patience compliance.
