  • Publication number: 20150150275
Abstract: Methods for processing acid whey, involving treating acid whey solution with ?-galactosidase and/or ?-galactosidase, at a pH of about 3.2 to about 5.2 for about 20 minutes to about 16 hours at about 20° C. to about 60° C. to produce an acid whey solution containing at least about 40% less lactose than the original acid whey solution, filtrating the tempered acid whey solution to form a retentate containing proteins and a permeate containing lactose and residual proteins, recovering lactose from the permeate, optionally drying the retentate to form acid whey powder, and optionally texturizing the acid whey powder.

  • Publication number: 20090238943
Abstract: A method of treating liquid eggs, involving (a)(i) homogenizing liquid eggs to form homogenized liquid eggs and diluting the homogenized liquid eggs with water to form diluted homogenized liquid eggs or (ii) diluting liquid eggs with water to form diluted liquid eggs and homogenizing the diluted liquid eggs to form homogenized diluted liquid eggs and (b) filtering the diluted homogenized liquid eggs or the homogenized diluted liquid eggs through a microfilter to form a permeate wherein the permeate contains less than about 0.25 microbial cells/ml. The liquid eggs are liquid whole eggs, liquid egg yolks, liquid egg whites, or mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 6307050
Abstract: A high-yield, 4-step synthesis for flosequinan starting with 4-fluoroanthranilic acid comprising cyclization with phosgene to create an intermediate -A, followed by methylation to create an intermediate -B, then by reaction with dimsyl sodium to create an intermediate -C, then by reaction with triethyl orthoformate in the presence of piperdine and acetic acid to give flosequinan. The overall yield of the disclosed process is greater than about 16%.

  • Patent number: 5618511
Abstract: A flue-gas scrubbing-liquor regeneration process that is based on contacting N-S compounds contained in a flue-gas scrubbing liquor with a lime/limestone solution in a double draw-off crystallizer under suitable pH conditions for precipitating calcium salts of N-S compounds. The precipitated crop is filtered and then hydrolyzed in a sulfuric acid environment to produce gypsum and ammonium sulfate in solution. The hydrolyzed slurry is filtered and the filtrate is neutralized with lime to liberate ammonia gas that is then sparged through a sulfuric acid solution to cause the precipitation of commercial-grade ammonium sulfate.
