  • Publication number: 20220109969
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for emergency communications (e.g., voice calls and/or SMS messages) for UE's without cellular coverage (e.g., in non-cellular coverage). A UE may establish, while out of range of cellular service, a peer-to-peer communication session with a relay UE using a channel in an unlicensed frequency band. The UE may transmit, using the peer-to-peer communication session, an emergency notification to the relay UE. The emergency notification may include an approximate location of the UE. Further the UE may communicate with a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), where the communications may be relayed between the UE and the PSAP by the relay UE. The approximate location of the UE may be based, at least in part, on a location of the relay UE and determining the approximate location of the UE may include performing a ranging procedure with the relay UE.

  • Patent number: 11265724
Abstract: Computer-readable media, methods and apparatus for allocating radio resources for a geographic region are disclosed. In some aspects, the apparatus may be an arrangement including a determiner that determines first radio resource utilization information for a first duration of a first geographic region. The arrangement may also include an estimator that estimates second radio resource utilization information for a second duration of a second geographic region, based on the first radio resource utilization information and based on movement information about a plurality of communication terminals that affected the first radio resource utilization information in the first geographic region. The arrangement may further include an allocator that allocates radio resources for the second geographic region based on the estimation of the second radio resource utilization information. The first duration may precede the second duration, and the first geographic region may neighbor the second geographic region.

  • Publication number: 20220060858
Abstract: A device-to-device (D2D) communication application is stored in a memory of a first device, and has an application identifier (ApplicationID) configured to enable D2D communication between two or more devices in proximity. The first device is configured with a user identifier (UserID). A group associated with the D2D communication application can then be established, which includes the first device and one or more second devices, each having the D2D communication capability and an associated UserID, each of the devices exchanging their ApplicationID and UserID with other devices to establish the group. A role in the group is assigned to each device of the first device and one or more second devices, which defines functions for each device to establish the D2D communications. Based on the role of each device, a set of resources from the network are allocated to enable the D2D communication on the D2D communication channel.

  • Publication number: 20220038986
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can operate to configure an application service to a network slice instance while preserving an application identity (ID) privacy. The UE receives network slice customer (NSC) Service ID from an NSC. A UE route selection policy (URSP) from a network slice provider (NSP), or network operator, includes the NSC Service ID in a traffic descriptor that associates a single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) with the NSC Service ID. The UE associates the application service to the network slice instance based on the NSC Service ID and the S-NSSAI.

  • Publication number: 20220039004
Abstract: A network device or component such as an access node (AN) can operate to provide a request to obtain a network slice of a network slice as a service (NSaaS) to provide a communication service on the network slice for an end-user device. In response to obtaining the network slice, a network slice customer (NSC) Service identity (ID) associated with the network slice can be determined and provided for a communication service for an application by the end-user device or user equipment (UE). The request can be processed at a network slice provider (NSP) component, in which the network slice can be assigned to the NSC in response to the request by the NSC. The NSP further provides a user equipment (UE) route selection policy (URSP) comprising a traffic descriptor that includes the NSC Service ID to the NSC.

  • Patent number: 10455405
Abstract: A server application executing on the public Internet may establish or re-establish a packet data network (PDN) connection with a client application executing on mobile device over a cellular network by initiating a telephone call to the mobile device via a cellular access network node according to a telephone number associated with the client application. The mobile device may receive a paging for the telephone call from the cellular access network node. In response to the paging, the mobile device may determine a PDN communication channel associated with the server application, the PDN including the cellular access network node, and send a set of data to the server application via the determined PDN communication channel. The server application may, in response to receiving the set of data, send a second data set of data to the client application over a PDN communication channel associated with the client application.
