  • Publication number: 20060293047
Abstract: A method and system for transmitting and receiving a control data signal within spreading signal and an intelligence/analog signal. The control data is interleaved within the spreading data signal at a transmitter side. Before transmitting to a remote receiver side, the spreading/control data signal, after passing a high-pass filter, and an intelligence signal, which is passing through a low-pass filter, are summed by a summing device to form a composite intelligence/spreading data (CISS)signal and are modulated on an RF carrier by a modulator. After receiving the CISS modulated RF carrier, the receiver side converses the CISS modulated RF carrier to IF signal, which is then demodulated by a demodulator to recover the original CISS signal. The CISS signal is then passing through a low-pass filter to recover the intelligence signal and through a high-pass filter to recover the spreading/control signal. The control signal is further recovered by a digital device.

  • Publication number: 20060068715
Abstract: A method for reducing interference from a wireless communications system. The interference threshold is set based on a quality criterion that can be measured during operation of the system. The quality criterion is measured during system operation. Preferably, a separate quality criterion measurement is performed for each of an uplink and a downlink of the wireless communications system. The quality criterion is compared to the information containing the set interference threshold. A breach of the interference threshold for the uplink or the downlink is determined when the measurement indicates that the measured quality criterion is sufficiently poor that operation of the system should be modified. Upon determination of an interference breach in either the uplink or downlink, the system initiates an asymmetric enhanced mode operation in which redundant data transmission is established over the link exhibiting the interference breach, while standard, non-redundant transmission continues on the other link.

  • Patent number: 7020119
Abstract: A cordless telephone implementing using a BLUETOOTH wireless bearer is presented. A BLUETOOTH voice data structure is implemented by coding the voice data at a bitrate below 64 kb/s, such that the full number of payload bits provided by the BLUETOOTH voice data structure are not required for transmission of voice data. The packet payload is then encoded in a non-standard format to implement a robust error detection and/or correction protocol for the voice data, as well as for the provision of a low-rate data channel for transmission of information such as caller ID. Alternatively, a BLUETOOTH non-voice data structure can be employed by transmitting encoded voice data as user payload bits. The data link is then flushed each time new voice data is ready for sending by the transmitting device. If slots are available before the data link is flushed, unsuccessfully transmitted data can be automatically resent, thereby implementing time and frequency diversity.

  • Publication number: 20050191964
Abstract: A system for allowing BT, WDCT, and 802.11 transceivers to operate in close proximity with a minimum of interference, is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, a method for avoiding interference between a first FHSS device and other RF devices using 802.11 or FHSS protocols is disclosed. The first FHSS device initially detects the presence of an interfering RF device (“interferer”), for example a device employing 802.11 protocol, and adjusts the frequency of channels used for operation of the first device accordingly to avoid overlap with the 802.11 band. In the presence of an additional interferer, for example, a second FHSS device emitting an interfering signal, the first FHSS device may segregate its operation channels to achieve maximum frequency separation from an 802.11 and second FHSS device. In addition, the first and third devices may also multiplex their transmit/receive timing to avoid interference in time domain.

  • Patent number: 6744748
Abstract: An error monitor for indicating the quality of communications on a digital communication channel. One or more error detection mechanisms provide indication when an error occurs. After receipt of an error indication, no further indications are detected until a burst error time window has passed. Error indications are stored in a bin. When time since an error indication has been received exceeds a second time period, the event is removed from the bin. When all slots in the bin contain error indications, an indication of the quality of communications on the channel is provided. Parameters can vary with the strength of the received signal to accommodate long range conditions.
