Patent number: 7352946Abstract: A fiber sub-system is provided. The fiber sub-system comprises a fiber optic transmission module, one or more contact boards adapted to couple to shelf interface connectors, and a midplane adapted to couple with the one or more contact boards and the fiber optic transmission module enabling communication between the one or more contact boards and the fiber optic transmission module without requiring modifications to the fiber optic transmission module. The fiber sub-system also comprises a shell for encapsulating the fiber optic transmission module, the one or more contact boards, and the midplane.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2006Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Assignee: ADC DSL Systems, Inc.Inventors: Deborah H. Heller, Suleyman O. Sumer, James X. Torok, Thomas DiVittorio

Patent number: 5515252Abstract: A cover plate is designed for use in either wall mounting or ceiling mounting applications. The cover plate comprises a base forming a base plane for mounting said plate flush against a support surface. A main body is connected to the base and has a generally flat mounting surface disposed in the plane parallel to the base and a sloped mounting surface inclined with respect to the base plane. A pair of first mounting holes are formed in the flat mounting surface which have an axis substantially perpendicular to the base plane. A pair of second mounting holes are formed in the sloped mounting surface and have an axis disposed at an angle with respect to the base plane. In ceiling mounting applications, lighting fixtures are received in the first mounting holes. Conversely, in wall mounting applications, the lighting fixtures are received in the second mounting holes.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1993Date of Patent: May 7, 1996Assignee: Regent Lighting CorporationInventors: Mitchell M. Osteen, Suleyman O. Sumer

Patent number: 5510964Abstract: This luminaire employs as its light source a double-ended lamp comprising a tubular light-transmitting envelope having a central longitudinal axis, conductive terminals at opposite ends of the envelope, and a light-generating filament connected between the terminals. The lamp, when installed in the luminaire, is connected between a pair of spaced contacts respectively engaging its conductive terminals. The luminaire is constructed in such a manner that an installer engaged in relamping it is blocked from accidentally touching one terminal of the lamp while the other terminal is engaged with its mating contact, thereby protecting the installer from such electric shock as could result from touching one lamp terminal while the other is engaged with a live contact.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1994Date of Patent: April 23, 1996Assignee: Regent Lighting CorporationInventors: Brian L. Spitler, Suleyman O. Sumer

Patent number: 5504665Abstract: This quartz-halogen floodlight includes mounting means that is so constructed that the light-aiming angle of the floodlight can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically without disturbing the normal horizontal disposition of the quartz-halogen lamp within the floodlight.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1994Date of Patent: April 2, 1996Assignee: Regent Lighting CorporationInventors: Mitchell M. Osteen, Suleyman O. Sumer

Patent number: 5493484Abstract: A lamp housing is pivotally connected to a support stand having a top portion and a plurality of legs. A support boss extends upwardly from the top portion to which the housing is mounted. The electrical connections and components are mounted beneath the domed portion of the support stand.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1993Date of Patent: February 20, 1996Assignee: Regent Lighting CorporationInventors: Mitchell O. Osteen, Suleyman O. Sumer, Charles L. Dozier

Patent number: 5455756Abstract: This portable lighting fixture comprises a lamp housing containing a lamp and a reflector that projects light from the lamp through an opening in the front face of the housing. A protective grill on the housing registers with the front-face opening in a location spaced from the opening. Normally located beneath the housing is a base that normally supports the housing. The grill has an outer periphery that appears rounded when viewed from a horizontal reference plane located above the housing when the housing is in its normal location atop the base. Tip-over of the fixture onto a horizontal surface that causes the central peripheral portion of the grill to fall against the horizontal surface results in the fixture rolling over in a lateral direction on the rounded grill following initial contact between the central peripheral portion of the grill and the horizontal surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1995Date of Patent: October 3, 1995Assignee: Regent Lighting CorporationInventors: Suleyman O. Sumer, Brian L. Spitler

Patent number: 5381323Abstract: A lighting fixture having a new and improved sensor housing and an adjustable mast arm. The sensor housing includes a top wall, a bottom wall, a back wall having a first lead aperture for establishing electrical and mechanical connections between a proximity sensor and a source of electrical power, a transition wall, a pair of side walls, and at least one drain aperture located between the transition wall and the bottom wall. A first partition wall is located between the bottom wall and the transition wall. The first partition wall extends between the pair of side walls to form a cavity including at least one drain aperture for preventing the accumulation of water in the sensor housing. An adjustable mast arm is connected between the base and the sensor housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1993Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Assignee: Regent Lighting CorporationInventors: Mitchell M. Patent number: 5335159Abstract: A multimovable plastic lamp fixture. In the preferred embodiment, the lamp fixture includes a pair of lampholders for supporting a pair of floodlights or the like. Each of the lampholders are attached to a base by means of a ball and socket-type joint. The ball joint is located off-center and provides spherical positioning of the lights. A gasket located in the interior of each socket prevents moisture from entering the base and, in addition, maintains each lampholder in position due to friction. The ball and socket joint includes a knee ball cover having a semi-spherical surface for engaging the ball joint. Tabs located on the outer surface of the knee ball cover limit the rotational movement of each lampholder with respect to the base.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1992Date of Patent: August 2, 1994Assignee: Regent Lighting CorporationInventors: Kent Chen, Suleyman O. Sumer, Jose M. Pinedo
