  • Patent number: 4987544
Abstract: An engine control device is provided for reducing the retrieving time of control data from sensors at high and low engine speeds. Control parameters from the sensors are converted into memory access parameters to a control map to recover the desired injection amount. The fuel injection quantity is calculated by retrieving fuel injection amounts using the memory access parameters as addresses and performing a four-point interpolation of the memory parameters. A previously retrieved value is used as a reference value to aid the determination of an updated memory access parameter so that the retrieving time can be reduced for high and low engine speeds.

  • Patent number: 4940421
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved multi-pin type of water proof electric connector which is guaranteed free of shortcircuit between adjacent pin-and-contact piece connections even if water should invade to any pin-and-connector piece connection through the very small gap between the conductor and the insulation sheath of the wire by the capillary action. The electric connector comprises a male half having contact pieces and a female half having pin terminals in its cavity, and a seal member placed in the space which is to be formed between the outer surface of the plug housing and the inside surface of the socket housing when the male and female halves are coupled. The plug housing has a plurality of hollow protrusions each containing a contact piece, and the seal member encircles each of the protrusions, thereby sealing each pin-and-contact piece connection independently from adjacent pin-and-contact piece connections when the male and female halves are mated.

  • Patent number: 4932875
Abstract: A multipolar connector includes a female connector having a female housing for accommodating and supporting a plurality of first connecting terminals, a male connector having a male housing for accommodating and supporting a plurality of second connecting terminals each connectable to a corresponding one of the first connecting terminals. A seal member is positioned between opposing end faces of the female and male connectors when the female and male connectors are coupled with each other. Overlapping portions are formed between individual connecting terminals on the end faces of the female and male housings opposing through the seal member and overlapping portions are formed on the seal member for intimate contact engagement with the overlapping portions on said female and male housings.

  • Patent number: 4932380
Abstract: A fuel injection controller for an internal combustion engine includes a control pulse generator which generates a pulse with each rotation of the crankshaft. An operating condition discriminator determines the operating condition of the engine. An electronic control unit changes from sequential fuel injection to simultaneous fuel injection without degradation of engine performance. An ignition controller has first, and third pulse generators generating pulses with rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft, respectively, and a second pulse generator pulsing at a phase angle with respect to the crankshaft. An ignition timer controls ignition timing based on the pulses from the first and second pulse generators, and a fuel injection timer controls fuel injection based on the pulses from the first and third pulse generators.

  • Patent number: 4931940
Abstract: A rotational position detector for controlling an internal combustion engine comprises a rotary body rotatable in synchronism with internal combustion engine operation. A plurality of detectable portions is disposed on the rotary body. A pulse generator is operatively positioned adjacent to the rotary body for generating a pulse each time one of the detectable portions on the rotary body passes the pulse generator. A measuring device measures time intervals between respective pulses. An increase/decrease discriminator is provided to compare previous and current values of the output of the measuring device to check for an increase or decrease therein. A memory stores the output of the increase/decrease discriminator for a predetermined period in an increase/decrease pattern. A comparator compares the increase/decrease pattern with a predetermined increase/decrease pattern and develops an output for controlling the operation of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 4907178
Abstract: A method of detecting a reference angular position of a rotary body. Two detectable portions are spaced apart from each about the periphery by a predetermined angle in the rotational direction thereof. Two detection signals and produced from two detectors spaced apart from each other by the same angular distance as the detectable portions in the rotational direction of the rotary body in the vicinity of the locus of the detectable portions. It is first detected that at least one of the detectors produces a detection signal and thereafter it is determined that the rotary body takes a reference angular position when both of the detectors produce the detection signals.

  • Patent number: 4740905
Abstract: A rally-oriented meter device for motorcycles, includes a meter unit, a fixing assembly for fixing the meter unit in the vicinity of a handle bar of the motorcycle, and a sensor for detecting the number of revolutions of a front wheel of the motorcycle. The meter unit has an internal electric circuit, a display section, and an operational section. The internal electric circuit comprises an integration circuitry for an integration of a travel distance of the motor cycle. A correction circuitry provides the integration circuitry with a correction signal representing a correlation factor. The operational section comprises a calibration switch system for providing a control signal for commanding the correction circuitry to start and stop an action thereof to determine the correction factor. The display section comprises a first display element for displaying the travel distance in a predetermined unit, and a second display element for displaying the travel distance in a unit smaller than the predetermined unit.

  • Patent number: 4723530
Abstract: An ignition device of the capacitor discharge type for small automobiles or two-wheeled vehicles, having an A.C. generator with a converter which transforms the alternating current supplied by a stator coil into direct current, increasing the voltage. Ignition voltage is provided by a charging control which releases the charge stored in a capacitor with the required timing.

  • Patent number: 4671237
Abstract: To obtain optimum combustion of fuel in an internal combustion engine and prevent the occurrence of reverse torque therein, an ignition timing control system having a pulse generating circuit for generating first and second timing pulses corresponding to respective predetermined crank angles of the engine includes means for producing all essential signals and, hence, for setting maximum delay angle ignition timing, based on a reference which is the leading edge of the second timing signal, which edge is unaffected by unstable engine rotation as when the engine is started. To simplify and reduce circuitry, an ignition signal generating circuit and a reverse torque preventing circuit are integrated and adapted to perform both functions.

  • Patent number: 4669438
Abstract: An ignition timing control system for a two-cycle internal combustion engine compares a first reference signal which rises to a predetermined level as a first pulse signal is generated corresponding to a predetermined crank angle and which thereafter decays at a predetermined slope, and a second reference signal of generally trapezoidal shape and having a pulse width corresponding to the pulse width of a second pulse signal corresponding to a predetermined crank angle. When the signal level of the second reference signal rises above that of the first reference signal, an ignition signal is generated.
