  • Publication number: 20130041836
Abstract: One embodiment is a vessel schedule optimization system and method that determines and schedules the optimal land and ocean shipments for a group of orders. The method includes creating an order bundle, the order bundle including orders that have the same origin and destination location and have overlapping time windows for pickup and delivery. The method also includes dividing the order bundle into equipment sized bundles, such that each of the equipment sized bundles include orders that can fit in the same equipment. The method further includes, for each of the equipment sized bundles, identifying available origin ports, destination ports, and voyages for handling the equipment sized bundle. The method then includes building land and ocean shipments for each of the equipment sized bundles based on the identified origin ports and destination ports.

  • Publication number: 20120158627
Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a method of optimally packing items into at least one resource. The method includes receiving at least one of items, resources, and parameters, and setting up a set partitioning mixed integer programming (MIP) using the received items, resources, and parameters. The method further includes solving liner programming (LP) relaxation of the MIP, generating new packings, and checking whether new packings have been generated. When no new packings have been generated, solving the final MIP and creating a model of at least one resource packed according to the final MIP.

  • Publication number: 20120158608
Abstract: One embodiment is a fleet dispatch plan optimization system and method that provides a planning and assignment mechanism for assigning shipments of goods, supplies, cargo, or any other type of delivery to a driver and equipment. The method may include, for example, receiving as an input a plurality of shipments of items or goods that need to be assigned and a plurality of drivers available to handle the shipments. The drivers can include those from the private fleet or from a common carrier. The method may then include determining, using a simulation engine for example, the most cost effective assignment of one of the drivers to at least one of the shipments.

  • Publication number: 20020095457
Abstract: The invention provides a system and methods for retrieving selected supply chain data from various supply chain information databases and presenting the selected data to a user for viewing. The invention allows sharing of supply chain information by receiving a data request from a user, filtering the data request, issuing a data request to an application that retrieves the data from at least one associated database, organizing the data retrieved by the application, and sending the organized data for display to the user that originated the request. The invention also provides a two-tier security system whereby the user's data access is restricted to the type of data that it is authorized to view as well as confining the user's access to predetermined fields within that data type. Finally, the invention provides a system and methods for organizing the data presented to the user in a logical and efficient manner that is responsive to the user's preferences.
