  • Publication number: 20080282902
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus used for automatically shutting off cooking appliances, such as ovens, stoves, hot pots, toasters, grills, and others. More specifically, the apparatus is secured to a cooking appliance, e.g. to its control panel, and may prevent a cooking appliance from being turned on before a timer is set. The apparatus can also increase the ease with which a cooking appliance knob or other actuator may be used. To automatically shutoff the cooking appliance, the apparatus uses a timing mechanism with a spring. Pressure is exerted on a spring when the timer is set, storing enough force in the spring to enable it to turn the cooking appliance to the OFF position when time has expired. A mechanical stop is in place to keep the spring energy from releasing until the timer reaches the OFF position.

  • Publication number: 20080172809
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device used for cleaning up hair, fibers and other debris from surfaces, furnishings and carpets. More specifically, the invention relates to picking up such items using a mechanized apparatus with a static electric charged bar or roller and rotating gears that transfer torque to rotate a collecting roller. The collecting roller picks up and stores the hair, fibers and other debris that have been lifted by the static electric charged bar or roller and deposits them in a collection section of the device for disposal.

  • Patent number: 7391779
Abstract: A combined CDM/TDM (code division multiplexing/time division multiplexing) transmitter and method are provided which employ fractional slot assignment by assigning fractional CDM channel gains to multiple slots for at least one packet with a goal that a sum of fractional CDM gains assigned each packet over a scheduling period meet a required threshold. In some embodiments, the transmitter is adapted to determine which users to transmit during a given slot, and to determine fractional CDM channel gains using an optimization of fractional CDM channel gain and user assignment which maximizes a number of users each of which is assigned a respective group of one or more slots with fractional CDM channel gains which sum to the required threshold for the user.

  • Patent number: 5768135
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for custom tailoring and manufacturing apparel by using numerous try-on apparels of differing, predetermined dimensions to make a finished product. A system is used to keep track of the number of try-on apparels and each of their dimensions. As a consumer tries on one of these try-on apparels, a device associated with the system is used to collect the consumer's responses about fit. If one try-on apparel does not fit, the system suggest a next one to try, according to pre-defined rules. When a particular try-on apparel's fit has been approved for purchase by the consumer, this is reported to a manufacturing system, where a piece of apparel corresponding to the dimensions of the approved try-on apparel is cut, stitched, treated, and shipped as a finished apparel.

  • Patent number: 5451727
Abstract: A noise suppressing apparatus for a hermetic reciprocating compressor. A soundproof chamber is provided at a lower shell. A suction pipe passes through the soundproof chamber and is divided into inner and outer suction pipes spaced from each other in the soundproof chamber. The inner suction pipe is connected to a suction muffler in such a manner that the inner end of the inner suction pipe is inserted in a spring, and a resilient member is formed about the inner end and the spring and inserted into the suction muffler. Thus the apparatus can diminish noise as well as heat transfer, thereby achieving high efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4983546
Abstract: A method for curing spin-on-glass formed on a wafer film which insulates the metal layers and flattens any step difference in the process for manufacturing a multi-layered metal layer of a highly integrated semiconductor device which comprises establishing a predetermined initial temperature in a heating chamber with an ultraviolet light source. A wafer, on which a SOG film to be cured is formed, is then introdued into the heated chamber and the temperature gradually increased to a predetermined maximum temperature. The SOG film is irradiated with ultraviolet light at a predetermined wavelength simultaneously with the application of heat at the maximum temperature for a predetermined time. The wafer is then cooled.

  • Patent number: 4293933
Abstract: A borehole investigating device takes measurements of a subsurface earth formation and provides signals forming sonic, formation density or similar logs of the borehole. Additionally, the investigating device measures the dip of seismic signal reflectors traversed by the borehole and provides corresponding dip signals. A seismic section which may or may not include the borehole is selected, and the log and dip signals are combined with signals defining the location of the seismic section with respect to the borehole, to thereby provide synthetic logs for each of a number of virtual boreholes which coincide with selected virtual and/or actual shotpoints of the seismic section. The synthetic log signals are then combined to form a truly two-dimensional synthetic seismogram for the selected seismic section. The synthetically derived signals may be corrected in accordance with a selected geological model of the formation.
