Abstract: An OSD multi cursor display method and apparatus are provided, wherein an OSD source transmits a plurality of OSD multi cursor display data to a display apparatus by giving each data a peculiar ID, said display apparatus stores the plurality of received OSD multi cursor display data in a memory, said OSD source transmits only an OSD multi cursor ID and display location information to said display apparatus, and said display apparatus reads an OSD multi cursor display data of a corresponding ID and displays the data on a screen at a given cursor display location. Since only a plurality of OSD multi cursor data is transmitted initially, and thereafter only the ID of the OSD multi cursor and the display location information are transmitted, the amount of data in transmission is reduced, the processing speed becomes faster, and an OSD multi cursor can be displayed smoothly on a screen.

Abstract: An OSD cursor display method and an OSD image display apparatus are provided, wherein an information that has an own cursor display data is transmitted from a display apparatus to an OSD source, and when said OSD source wants to transmit an OSD cursor to said display apparatus, it is checked whether said display apparatus has an own cursor display data, said OSD source transmits only cursor display location information if said display apparatus has the own cursor display data, and the own cursor display data is displayed at a received cursor display location. Therefore, since the OSD source only transmits cursor display location information to the display apparatus, the processing speed becomes faster, and therefore the location moving time in moving a cursor on a screen becomes faster and the movement of the cursor becomes smooth.

Therefore, an OSD object can be displayed smoothly by reducing the amount of transmitted data and increasing the processing speed, because only OSD display data is transmitted, initially, by giving ID in at least more than one OSD object unit, and only OSD object ID and display location information are transmitted thereafter.

Abstract: An apparatus and method connect a function-extending module and a base module installed in an audio/video (AV) system reproducing various AV source data. The apparatus connects a function-extending module, which is detachably inserted into a module rack, to a base module capable of reproducing AV data to be communicated between the function-extending module and the base module. The apparatus includes a detecting unit for detecting the installation of function-extending module(s) in the module rack, a switching unit for connecting the base module and the function-extending module(s) and for connecting function-extending modules to each other, and a control unit for controlling the switching unit so that the function-extending module(s) is (are) connected to the base module in a daisy-chain fashion according to a detection signal from the detecting unit.

Abstract: A music file recording/reproducing module is mounted in a module rack of an audio/video (AV) system capable of reproducing input audio data, and receives audio data encoded by a predetermined encoding method, decodes the received audio data, and sends the decoded audio data to the AV system. By doing so, a music file is received from an outside source, is stored, and is decoded so that the received music file can be reproduced. That is, the music file recording/reproducing module causes the AV system to receive various music files, such as an MP3 file transmitted through the Internet, and to store and reproduce the music files. The module comprises a communications interface unit for receiving encoded audio data, a decoder for decoding the encoded audio data, and a control unit for sending the decoded audio data to the AV system. An audio reading unit, an audio writing unit, and an audio storage unit are also provided.
