  • Publication number: 20240088668
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for controlling distributed energy resources. Controllers in a peer-to-peer network are configured to act as a dispatch handler for electrical buses connected to respective set of power assets and loads. The controllers are configured to broadcast micro-grid configuration information over the peer-to-peer network to each controller. Each controller is configured to determine a segmentation of the electrical buses into isolated micro-grids; and assign a controller as a supervisor for each of the isolated micro-grids. The controllers are configured such that supervisor controller assigned to isolated micro-grid is configured to determine dispatch commands for power assets associated with the isolated micro-grid to handle load requirements and broadcast the determined dispatch commands over the peer-to-peer network.

  • Publication number: 20050067406
Abstract: An apparatus with a self heating feature includes a conductive component of the apparatus having conductive composite. The conductive component is adapted to couple with a source of electricity, and the conductive component heats up on passage of electricity. According to another aspect, a domestic appliance that requires heating for its operation, includes at least one part comprising a conductive composite, which heats up on passage of electricity and the part is adapted to couple with a power supply. According to another aspect a method for providing heating in an apparatus includes heating at least one conductive component of the apparatus. The heating is done by passing an electric current through the conductive component, and the conductive component comprises a conductive composite.

  • Patent number: 6811169
Abstract: The present invention includes a flexible, resilient composite spring pivotally connected to the vehicle wheel assembly by standard means such as a ball joint and knuckle. The composite spring is formed having a sinusoidal profile with rectangular cross-section preferably spanning transversely between parallel vehicle wheel assemblies. The composite spring is pivotally connected to the parallel vehicle frames by opposing perpendicular brackets welded to an upper and lower portion of the vehicle frame. A rubber bushing is preferably provided within each bracket and is in contact with opposing sides of the composite spring, allowing the spring to pivot between the vehicle frame. The composite spring is preferably formed with carbon and glass fibers. The sinusoidal composite spring blank is preferably molded with a neutral axis extending along the length of the spring at a midpoint of the sinusoidal profile.

  • Publication number: 20040094975
Abstract: A hybrid bumper system includes a hollow reinforcing metallic beam and a molded engineering thermoplastic resin energy absorber. The energy absorber further includes at least one crushable portion. The hollow metallic beam is secured in a physically stable combination with the energy absorber, thereby resulting in a solitary hybrid bumper system.

  • Patent number: 6726292
Abstract: A two piece fiber reinforced composite wheel includes a molded inner rim portion defining an outboard engagement surface and a molded outer rim portion defining an inboard engagement surface. The inner and outer rim portions are conformed so as to interlock together and are adhesively bonded. The inner and outer rim portions engage forming a plurality of spoke sections having substantially box shaped cross sections. The spoke sections are further connected with fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6666501
Abstract: A lightweight automobile body structure is provided and includes a base assembly including an upper sheet and a lower sheet. The upper sheet has first and second series of upper reliefs formed therein and the lower sheet has first and second series of lower reliefs formed therein. The upper and lower sheets stacked adjacent one another, whereby the first series of upper reliefs are in flush contact with the first series of lower reliefs and the second series of upper reliefs are offset from the second series of lower reliefs for defining a space therebetween. First and second side panels are fixedly attached to the base assembly and extend therefrom for defining respective sides. A roof panel is fixedly attached between the first and second side panels for defining a roof.

  • Patent number: 6206458
Abstract: Uni-directional fibers are wrapped in tension around vehicle body panels to place the body panels in compression. A compressive load on the inner body panels, coupled with the actual load on the uni-directional fibers in tension contribute to a vehicle structural body that has increased stiffness.
