Abstract: There is provided a method and system for notifying of new email received at a user's mailbox on a mail storage system. A mail processing system, integrated with the mail storage system, is configured to receive new email auto-forwarded from the mail storage system and to define and send a notification email to a mail notification receiver.

Abstract: A communications system includes a polling agent that can be part of a mobile office platform for polling an electronic mailbox to retrieve unique identifiers (UID's) of electronic messages. A database stores the UID's resulting from the polling operation. The polling agent is operative for polling the electronic mailbox and retrieving only those UID's that are newer than the UID's from a previous polling to determine that new messages are available.

Abstract: A system for reconciling electronic mail (email) messages between a mobile wireless communications device and an electronic mailbox on an email server, which is operative for forwarding user email messages from the electronic mailbox at an email service provider to a mobile wireless communications device. An email reconciliation module, such as at a mobile office platform, is operative with the email server and mobile wireless communications device for reconciling any user action on an email message at the mobile wireless communications device with the corresponding email message at the electronic mailbox.

Abstract: A system authenticates a user for accessing an electronic mailbox of the user from a remote device and obtaining electronic mail (email). An email server is provided by an email service provider and contains the electronic mailbox of the user. A mobile office platform is operative for accessing the email server and determines if an authentication token is required to access the electronic mailbox of the user. An authentication token is received from the email server or other server if an authentication token is required. Access is attempted to the electronic mailbox of the user using the authentication token. The authentication token is stored for subsequent use by the user to access their electronic mailbox if access to the electronic mailbox using the token has been successful.

A configuration module processes any returned MX and A records to determine whether the email address parameters entered by the user are valid before attempting to provision the email account of the user.

The system may further include a plurality of mobile wireless communications devices for accessing the data storage devices and each using at least one of the plurality of different operating protocols. Moreover, a protocol interface device may also be included. The protocol interface device may include a front-end proxy module for communicating with the plurality of mobile wireless communications devices using respective operating protocols, and a protocol engine module communicating with the front-end proxy module using a common interface protocol. The protocol interface device may also include a respective interface connector module for translating communications between the protocol engine module and the plurality of data storage devices for each of the different operating protocols.

Abstract: A system, method and computer-readable medium provides configuration data, such as for electronic mail access. A configuration module retrieves the configuration data from a source of configuration data, such as a user system. The configuration in one aspect could be for accessing different electronic mailboxes of a user. Data object are generated. Each data object is submitted as a distributed object module to a web service. The web service in one aspect of the invention could be for a pass-through access for configuring electronic mailboxes.
