The inhibitors may be advantageously delivered as a composition that includes various carriers. In certain aspects of the invention, inhibitors used in the method include substituted indole or substituted pyrrole sPLA2 inhibitors. Also provided are compositions that include the sPLA2 carriers for oral delivery of the inhibitors.
