Abstract: A modular multi-service telecommunication access device includes a controller card and card slots for six peripheral cards and a power supply. Any of several types of peripheral cards can be inserted into the six card slots. A card present/protocol scheme allows an inserted card to recognize its address and communicate same as well as its communication protocol to the controller card via a PCM highway. The controller card sends both signaling information and management information to the peripheral cards via another PCM highway. A unique communication protocol allows for both real time signaling information and non-real time management information to be sent on the same channel. A microprocessor on the controller card includes an algorithm for managing messages to the various peripheral cards in the various card slots. A unique tributary addressing scheme allows for a simplified address used by external users to be converted to a more detailed internal address.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for covering an open end of a cable trough mounted in a cabinet for housing electronic devices includes a planar member for covering the opening of the cable trough. The planar member includes a front side, a back side, and an outer edge. The planar member also includes a perforated portion and a perimeter portion. The perforated portion is substantially surrounded by the perimeter portion. The back side of the planar member includes an adhesive material for securing the planar member to an outer wall of the cabinet. The perforated portion may also include a tab portion to allow for the removal of the perforated portion to allow access to the cable trough.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for shielding electromagnetic interference (EMI) and fastening housing members includes a clip for fastening to a first housing member including a length. The clip includes a plurality of longitudinally oriented openings formed therein and a plurality of dimples formed therein spaced along the length of the clip for engaging with a second housing member.

Abstract: A mounting brace and cable management apparatus includes a rigid bar including a body portion. The body portion includes a first end and a second end. A first leg portion extends substantially perpendicular from the first end. A second leg portion extends substantially perpendicular from the second end. A first flange portion extends from the first leg portion. A second flange portion extends from the second leg portion. The first and second flange portions each include an opening for receiving a fastener to fasten the first and second flange portions to a cabinet. The rigid bar can be mounted in a first position for securing an electronic module to the cabinet or a second position for routing cables. The rigid bar contacts a surface of the electronic module to prevent vertical movement of the electronic module within the cabinet when the rigid bar is mounted in the first position.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for covering an opening in a cabinet for housing electronic devices includes a grommet for covering the opening in the cabinet. A plurality of slits are formed in the grommet defining a plurality of flexible tab portions to allow one or more cables to pass through the grommet. The plurality of slits include at least one longitudinally oriented slit and a plurality of transversely oriented slits which intersect the longitudinally oriented slit.

Abstract: A cable management apparatus includes a cable trough having a body portion. A first side wall portion and a second wall portion each extend along a length of the body portion. The first side wall portion includes a plurality of notches formed therein and spaced along a length of the first side wall portion. A flange portion extends from each of the side wall portions. Each of the flange portions includes a plurality of openings formed therein. An elongated cover includes a plurality of fastening members spaced along a length of the cover. The fastening members are received in the flange openings to fasten the cover to the cable trough and to enclose cables routed within the cable trough while allowing cables to pass through the notches formed in the first side wall portion.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for covering a power filter includes a mounting plate and a cover. The mounting plate includes a first side and a second side each including a flange retaining portion. The mounting plate also includes at least one filter opening formed therein for receiving a power filter. The cover includes a first side wall and a second side wall. A first flange portion having a length extends from each of the side walls. The first and second side walls each include a leg portion formed therein. The leg portion includes a second flange portion having a length greater than the length of the first flange portion wherein the first flange portion slides into the flange retaining portion and the second flange portion extends through a guide opening formed in the flange retaining portion and slides into the flange retaining portion while the leg portion is flexed inward.
