  • Patent number: 8683331
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implement techniques for configuring at least a portion of a document for display in a display environment. The techniques include generating a document color palette for all or a portion of an electronic document, where the colors of the document color palette are selected based on colors of a plurality of color containing objects in the document or portion thereof, and generating a plurality of views of the document, two or more of the views being based on different color palettes. The plurality of views includes a document view including each of the plurality of color containing objects, where each color containing object in the document view is represented using the document color palette.

  • Patent number: 8362971
Abstract: Systems and techniques to display an electronic document to multiple display devices simultaneously. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes: identifying, by a software application in a computing system, display characteristics of multiple display devices, and generating, by the software application in the computing system, simultaneous independent views of an electronic document on the display devices by separately rendering the electronic document to each of the display devices based on the identified display characteristics of the device. A system can include one or more peripheral display devices, and a data processing system including a primary display device and a software application that generates simultaneous independent views of an electronic document on the display devices based on display characteristics of the display device as identified by the software application.

  • Patent number: 7895513
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for configuring an electronic document for a presentation environment, where the electronic document includes a plurality of information types. A display constraint for the presentation environment is determined based on text information in the electronic document. A size of an electronic document is calculated under a first set of conditions satisfying the display constraint. A determination is made whether the calculated size satisfies a processing constraint of the presentation environment. If the calculated size does not satisfy the processing constraint, a reduced representation of the electronic document is configured by reducing information of a secondary information type of the electronic document, such that the reduced representation satisfies both the display constraint and the processing constraint and retains spatial relationships of the text information in the electronic document.

  • Publication number: 20060268916
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for communicating messages between a message transmission architecture and a vehicle. The method comprises transmitting a short message service (SMS) message intended for a vehicle-based receiver and monitoring for an acknowledgement (ACK) message generated in response to the SMS message. The ACK message indicating receipt of the SMS message by the vehicle-based receiver. If there is no ACK message received within a timeout period, a circuit switched communication connection is initiated with the vehicle-based receiver.

  • Publication number: 20060015221
Abstract: A method and control system enable at least one adjustable setting of an apparatus in a vehicle to be changed in response to a selection made by a user of the vehicle either from the vehicle or from a location remote to the vehicle. The system has a user actuated input device that provides a control signal in response to a setting selection by the user. A server system stores a program for operating the method and system. A vehicle control system is provided onboard the vehicle. A communication network couples the server system to the vehicle control system so that so that the user can control the setting for the apparatus by operating the input device. The computer system records the vehicle settings in a database.
