Patent number: 9092025Abstract: A thermal displacement compensating device calculates a thermal displacement amount which is produced by heat generation or dissipation as a machine tool is actuated or stopped and changes with time. A thermal displacement compensation amount is calculated by multiplying the calculated thermal displacement amount by a coefficient. A position command is compensated by adding the thermal displacement compensation amount to the position command. On the other hand, a variation between a thermal displacement amount calculated last time and a current thermal displacement amount is determined for each predetermined time. A plurality of thermal displacement amount change states are identified based on comparison between the determined variation and a predetermined threshold. The coefficient is calculated based on the identified thermal displacement amount change state.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2012Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: FANUC CORPORATIONInventor: Susumu Maekawa

Patent number: 8924003Abstract: In a thermal displacement compensation method for a machine tool, in which a feed shaft thermal displacement amount is obtained and an amount which cancels the obtained feed shaft thermal displacement amount is added as a thermal displacement compensation amount to a position command for a feed axis, a position where a signal is first output by a position sensor for detecting the position of a movable part of the machine tool is first stored as an initial position. Then, the position where the signal is output by the position sensor is detected, and the thermal displacement compensation amount is modified according to a compensation error, which is the difference between the detected position (actual position) and the initial position.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2011Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Fanuc CorporationInventors: Susumu Maekawa, Takahiro Endou

Publication number: 20140074299Abstract: A position command value is compensated by predicting a thermal displacement amount of each part of a machine tool and adding a thermal displacement compensation amount which cancels the predicted thermal displacement amount to the position command value of a feed axis. This thermal displacement compensation amount is adjusted from the error amount between this compensated position command value and an actual machining point. Upon adjustment of this thermal displacement compensation amount, it is possible to determine whether to increase or decrease the thermal displacement amount based on a direction in which an operator moves a tool image or a workpiece image on a screen.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2013Publication date: March 13, 2014Applicant: FANUC CORPORATIONInventors: Takahiro ENDOU, Susumu MAEKAWA

Patent number: 7503691Abstract: A machine tool capable of detecting an ambient temperature change without a detector for detecting the ambient temperature and capable of detecting an abnormality of a temperature detector for detecting the motor temperature. Motor temperature Ti (i=1, 2 . . . n) and the current feedback Ifi of each motor are read out from the temperature detector for detecting the temperature of each motor of the machine tool. The heating value Qi of each motor is obtained from current feedback Ifi. Motor temperature Ti is calculated and estimated from the heating value Q. Difference ?Ti between the estimated motor temperature Tmi and the detected temperature Tsi is obtained. When difference between maximum and minimum values of difference ?Ti exceeds the first threshold value ?, a temperature detector abnormality is outputted. When it is equal to or less than the first threshold value ?, the mean value ?T? of differences is obtained.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2006Date of Patent: March 17, 2009Assignee: Fanuc LtdInventors: Kunio Kojima, Susumu Maekawa

Patent number: 7403868Abstract: If a tool breakage occurs, a cutting time T and a maximum value (absolute value) G of a slope of a drop in a cutting load become small. A cutting load integrated value S increases as a tool wears and becomes small when the breakage occurs. Therefore, these values T, G, and S are obtained in a machining cycle, moving variable thresholds are obtained (updated) based on values T, G, and S obtained in a preceding machining cycle, and the thresholds and the values T, G, and S obtained in the current machining cycle are compared with each other to thereby determine an abnormal condition of the tool.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2003Date of Patent: July 22, 2008Assignee: Fanuc LtdInventors: Susumu Maekawa, Kuniharu Yasugi

Publication number: 20070213866Abstract: A motor is driven at a low speed to move a moving part at the start and end of movement based on a movement command given in one block of a program in a machining program check mode and at a high speed in an intermediate section. Since the moving speed is low at the start of movement, the direction of movement can be easily checked if it is correct. Since the moving speed is low at a point of time near the end of movement, moreover, an operator can enjoy a time allowance to determine whether or not there is a possibility of the moving part of a driven machine interfering with any other object.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 6, 2007Publication date: September 13, 2007Applicant: FANUC LTDInventors: Susumu Maki, Susumu Maekawa

Patent number: 7092786Abstract: A tool damage/abnormality detecting device capable of easily appropriately setting an allowable range for a value of comparison between a present value and a near past average for indexes indicative of loads on a tool. A machining cycle counter index i is adjusted to i=0, machining is performed as the loads are detected in a given period, and indexes H(i) (area S of load values, absolute value (G?) of a maximum inclination between two points obtained during a decrease of loads, etc.) are acquired for n number of cycles. Thereafter, the indexes and values of comparison between the index value for a present cycle and the indexes for the n number of cycles are acquired. A first comparison value can be used for initial value setting for threshold values. If any of the comparison values is deviated from the allowable range, the threshold values are updated so that the allowable range extends, and an update history is saved.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2005Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: Fanuc LTDInventors: Kuniharu Yasugi, Susumu Maekawa
