  • Patent number: 5653655
Abstract: A synchronous belt of the present invention has a tension member in the form of a cord, a plurality of teeth fixedly provided on one side of the tension member at set intervals in a longitudinal direction of the belt and a back layer bonded to the other side of the tension member. The back layer and the teeth are formed of urethane elastomer. The tension member is formed of inorganic fibers and is impregnated with a water based latex adhesive. A film of an epoxy adhesive is formed on the surface of the tension member.

  • Patent number: 5624515
Abstract: A multi-filament yarn is subjected to soft twist of 4 to 9 twistings in every 10 cm in a single direction thereby forming a warp yarn. Weft yarns are passed, at a density of 1 to 3 yarns in every 5 cm, crosswise over and under a plurality of the warp yarns parallel-arranged in a set width, thereby forming a cord fabric. The cord fabric is subjected to adhesion treatment with an adhesive so that an adhesive content per unit area thereof reaches 2 to 5%, is subjected to heat treatment so that the warp yarns reaches 1 to 4% in heat shrinkage percentage and is then cut at set lengths thereby obtaining short fibers.

  • Patent number: 5268221
Abstract: A rubber article having a fiber reinforcement embedded therein. The reinforcement comprises a cylindrically braided cord of an even number of twisted yarns of four or more, an equal number having an twist, i.e. twisted to the right, and a Z-twist, i.e. twisted to the left. The angle difference between a first twisting angle of a yarn and a final twisting angle of the cylindrically braided cord is set at less than 10.degree..

  • Patent number: 5242743
Abstract: A rubber having fiber reinforcement embedded thereon. The reinforcement comprises a cylindrically braided cords of more than four and even numbered twisted yarns. Yarns are right twist oriented and left twist oriented and they are twisted in the reverse direction in an, S-twist and a Z-twist.

  • Patent number: 5171190
Abstract: A woven fabric for covering a tooth part formed on a belt body of a synchronous belt is woven with a lengthwise yarn and a widthwise yarn. The lengthwise yarn is made of a crimped yarn of synthetic fiber or a covering yarn in which a crimped yarn of synthetic fiber is wound around an elastic cord yarn. The widthwise yarn is made of a spun yarn of synthetic fiber or meta-linked type aromatic polyamide fiber. The widthwise yarn expose more to the woven fabric surface than the lengthwise yarn. Thus, the belt life is lengthened and the noise reduced.

  • Patent number: 4978409
Abstract: A method of bonding fibers to hydrogenated nitrile rubber which comprises:the first step of treating fibers with an activating agent selected from the group consisting of polyisocyanates, epoxy compounds and silane coupling agents;the second step of dipping the fibers into a resorcinol/formalin/latex solution;the third step of treating the fibers with an adhesive composition which comprises (a) 1-90% by weight of polymers, based on the composition, the polymers containing halogens in amounts of 25-70% by weight based on the polymers, and (b) 10-99% by weight of polyisocyanates, aromatic polynitroso compounds or polyepoxy compounds; andthe fourth step of placing the fibers in close contact with hydrogenated nitrile rubber and vulcanizing the rubber together with the fibers. The resultant composites have large strength and high resistance to fatigue from repeated flexure.

  • Patent number: 4790802
Abstract: A power transmission belt having a load carrier in which a twisted cord of synthetic fiber such as polyester fiber or of inorganic fiber such as glass fiber is embedded. Said load carrier is made by final twisting a plurality of twisted yarn (one or plural single yarns first twisted) in the direction contrary to the first twisting direction. The first twisting angle should be in the range between 87.degree. and 93.degree. and the final twist multiplier should preferably be in the range between 400 and 1,600.

  • Patent number: 4710155
Abstract: This belt is used as power transmission belt, timing belt and transportation belt. It has a tension section, a compression section and a load carrier layer disposed between said two sections. The load carrier of the load carrier layer is composed of polyethyleneterephthalate filament which has at least 85 mol % ethyleneterephthalate as repeated unit and is at least 0.8 in ultimate viscosity, less than 0.190 in bifringence rate, less than 60 in the degree of orientation of amorphous portion and less than 15 equivalent/10.sup.6 g in terminal carboxyl group content, and said load carrier, when heated for 30 minutes at 150.degree. C. after an adhesive treatment and a heat treatment, is less than 5% in shrinkage percentage at dry heating and at least 6 g/denier in strength and less than 4% in elongation at a load of 2 g/denier.
